In the present communications system, communications terminals are connected via at least one hub unit and an exchange to a packet-based communications network. A timeslot-oriented data format, which is formed from a periodic sequence of channel-specific information segments, is provided for data transmission between the exchange and the communications terminals. In this case, information segments which are intended for transmission of signaling information, and information segments which are intended for transmission of user data information are transmitted in separate data packets which are intended for data transmission via the packet-oriented communications network.

Method of transmitting data via a packet-oriented communications network

A network gateway unit and method for transmitting data from a first router to a second router through an external communications network, whereby local area networks connected to the router devices can be connected through the network gateway unit, include connecting the first router to the communications network through the network gateway unit. The network gateway unit is used for conversion between a transmission protocol used by the first router and a transmission protocol used in the communications network. A hardware address, which identifies the second router, is allocated to the data as a destination address by the first router. In the network gateway unit, a network address that identifies an exit point from the communications network is allocated to the destination address. Based upon the network address, the data is transmitted to the exit point from the communications network and from there to the second router.

Method and device for transmitting data

In a system, particularly a telecommunication system (TK) that is programmed object-oriented, static and dynamic objects (O,) are instanced by a higher-ranking process or by instanced dynamic objects (O,) and the dynamic objects (O,) are erasable. A statically instanced object manager (MA,MB) is allocated to every class or, respectively, type of dynamic objects (O,) covering like objects (O,). Using the object manager (MA,MB), dynamic objects (O,) are instanced, chained, erased, and the information exchange between the dynamic objects (O,) is controlled, whereby a respective logical object reference (LOR,) is stored in the allocated object manager (MA,MB) when a dynamic object (O,) is instanced. This logical object reference (LOR,) is in turn erased when a dynamic object (O,) is erased. During the course of a call setup and cleardown in telecommunication systems (TK), dynamic objects (O,) are instanced and erased collision-free and the information exchange is initiated collision-free.

Method for the administration of dynamic objects in a means programmed object-oriented

Logical access segments (ACC) related to communications terminals are installed and managed for each communications partner (KP) in A database (DB) of a communications system (KS), in particular an ATM communications system. An identification (ID) and information (vci, vpi, wi, tri, qi) representing physical resources (R) of the respective communications partner (KP), as well as allocated switching-oriented possibilities (s) is entered into each access segment (ACC). During a connection setup by a communications partner (KP), the information (vcpi, vci) representing the requested physical resources (R) is taken from the allocated logical access segment (ACC) and allocated to further segments (LUP, LCP, LINK) for the duration of the connection. Through the use of the logical access segments (ACC) in a switching procedure structure (CPS) of a communications system (KS), a separation of the switching procedures from the management and setting of the physical resources (R) related to the communications terminals is achieved. As a result a switching procedure structure (CPS) can be designed independently of the physical instances of a communications system (KS).

Method for realizing logical communications partners in communications

Method for allocating the switching-oriented resources of a communication system for switched connections and permanent circuit connections. Call duration information (vdi) is formed in the communication terminal equipment connected to a communication system for switched connections (W) whose call durations can be determined. This call duration information (vdi) is communicated to the communication system within the framework of the call setup. In the communication system, the ending times of the switched calls are calculated after the through-connection of the switched connections (W) and those switched connections (W) are selected whose indicated call durations end lying closest to the switching deadline before the following switching deadline of a deadline permanent circuit connection (FW). Dependent on the scopes of the switching-oriented resources (WR) allocated to the selected switched [or: dialed] connections (W) and on the scopes of the switching-oriented resources (VR) required for the deadline permanent circuit connections (FV), switched connections (W) are selected from these. Their switching-oriented resources (VR) that become free are then reserved for the respectively provided, deadline permanent circuit connection (FV).
