Adjusting device for the outside mirror of a motor vehicle, comprising a drive housing, on which is mounted a mirror glass carrier that is mounted by means of a central ball and cap bearing and that is provided with intersecting toothed strips, chains or the like, which, enveloping the shell-like drive housing, are in engagement with output toothed gears of two drive motors, disposed in the drive housing, and comprising an electric contactor for the mirror glass to supply electric energy to heat the mirror, dim the mirror or the like, wherein the contact connecting lines are guided through the central axis of the ball and cap bearing.

An actuating mechanism, in particular for driving a motor vehicle rearview mirror. The actuating mechanism includes a housing, at least one electric motor, which is arranged therein and whose output shaft is drive-coupled to a reducing gear, driving an actuating mechanism, and a plug shaft, which is designed as one piece with the housing and into which a connecting plug can be plugged. Different types of contacting are possible with a housing shape and there is always the guarantee of a strain relief for the supply and/or control lines. Additional relief strain devices, which are not one piece with the housing and which can be plugged into the plug shaft and locked with the housing and which can accommodate at least two supply and/or control lines in one area, are at a distance from the line ends and holds the line ends so as to resist tension.

Actuating mechanism for driving a motor vehicle rearview mirror

An actuating mechanism for a motor vehicle, wherein a first element can be fastened to a vehicle; and a second element, which is connected to the first element so as to swivel around at least one axis of rotation, exhibits a mounting for a manipulatable member. The second element is connected to at least one adjustable element, which can be actuated by a drive between the first and the second element, and to at least one friction element, which rests against the first element. The actuating mechanism may be used with a rearview mirror to provide an especially high controlling torque and a frictional force that is as constant as possible over its life time, whereby the number of parts is kept to a minimum and the assembly is especially simple. At least one friction element and one adjustable element form a one piece friction-adjustable element, which serves as the connecting element between the first and the second elements, and the friction-adjustable element is under a tensile load.

A rear view mirror coupling assembly includes a glass carrier for supporting a mirror and including a spherical projection having a first spherical surface and a second spherical surface, a mirror drive housing including a mirror drive mechanism and including a spherical recess having a first surface, a spherical shell disposed between and in contact with the spherical projection and the spherical recess, the spherical shell having a first spherical surface contacting the second spherical surface of the spherical projection and a second spherical surface contacting the first surface of the spherical recess, a threaded bolt having a distal end and a head including a spherical underside surface in contact with the first spherical surface of the glass carrier, a threaded nut threaded onto the distal end of the threaded bolt to secure the glass carrier, the spherical shell, and the mirror drive housing together, and a spring element tensioned by the nut for urging the glass carrier, the spherical shell, and the mirror drive housing together, each of the contacting spherical surfaces being movable along at least one axis relative to the respective contacting spherical surface to provide adjustment of the glass carrier relative to the mirror drive housing.

Vehicle rear view mirror coupling assembly

The invention relates to a drive device for a vehicle rearview mirror, the positioning of which is achieved by means of a worm gear mounted by means of a coupling part in a single bearing, which is provided with an annular collar that engages in an upper annular slot of the coupling part. The intention is to improve the retaining force of the bearing. This is achieved according to the invention by providing that a cylindrical region provided with an upper and a lower guide surface adjoins the upper annular slot, the wall of the bearing surrounding the cylindrical region of the coupling part being disposed at a distance from the coupling part and guide surfaces corresponding to the guide surfaces of the coupling part being formed in the bearing, that the inside diameter of the annular collar is slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the cylindrical region of the coupling part, and that the angle that the inner face of the annular collar forms with the cross-sectional plane of the coupling part is in the range between 30.degree. and 60.degree..

Drive device for a vehicle rear-view mirror

A drive device for a motor vehicle rear-view mirror comprises a spur gear which may be driven by the shaft of an electric motor, and which is supported by a spherical bearing. The rear-view mirror is carried by a drive plate which is journaled for spherical movement about a spherical seat spaced laterally of the spur gear. A hollow pin extends from said drive plate, being non-rotatably connected for articulation therewith, the hollow pin having external threads. A guide mandrel extends from the spur gear into the hollow pin in sliding relationship, and elastically yieldable snap hooks extend from the spur gear outwardly of the guide mandrel and the hollow pin, and have hook parts for threadedly engaging the threads on the hollow pin.
