A sensor for measuring a flow speed of a fluid medium includes a housing with a carrier membrane disposed in the housing and being essentially in a form of a vane having a circumference and at least one edge region. Holding elements are arranged over a portion of the circumference connecting the vane to the housing so that only the at least one edge region of the carrier membrane is subjected to mechanical stress caused by the housing. An electrically conductive track with feed lines is installed on the carrier membrane in a region of a neutral fiber for the carrier membrane which does not experience a mechanical strain when the carrier membrane is bent. The electrically conductive track is adapted for being heated relative to the environment by an electrical current flowing through the electrically conductive track.

Sensor for the measurement of flowspeeds and method for operating the same

In a method for joining two or more solid parts, a foil is provided between the two parts, the foil is heated to an elevated temperature by means of a thermode such that it becomes soft, and then the foil is cooled down below the elevated temperature, thus providing a permanent connection. The method can be used for bonding a gas-permeable membrane to a housing such as to produce a liquid chromatography degasser. The bonding method ensures that no unwanted substances are released when liquid comes into contact with the bonding region.

In a method of manufacturing frame-mounted membranes, a first membrane layer is formed on a substrate and openings are formed in this membrane layer which are then covered by a second membrane layer, a frame structure is formed on the membrane layers around the openings and the membrane layers with the frame structure are separated from the substrate to provide the frame-mounted membranes.
