A situation display system has a movable section for attachment to a helmet nd a stationary section, including a stationary map providing a real map background for showing situation display elements on the map. The movable section is connected through a flexible cable to a device for the remote control of the situation display elements which are computer generated. By accurate measurements of the location of the helmet and its distance to the map, signals are provided which are processed independently of any movements of an operator wearing the helmet so that the elements are correctly displayed and seen on the map. Thus, a tactical situation display is obtained for a military command system.

A guide beam and tracking system for acquiring a target and for guiding a ying body into the target operates in accordance with the beam rider principle. A tracking laser beam is imaged into the path of a guide laser beam so that both beams travel through the same optical devices and through the same deflection device. All components of the system, except the receiver are controlled by a central processing unit which may control one, two, or three laser generators to produce, in timed sequence, laser beams for different purposes. A highly precise target acquisition and a precise target tracking is achieved.

Guide beam and tracking system

A system for automatically firing or discharing a weapon, such as a mine, comprises acoustical sensors for the preliminary adjustment and firing of the weapon. An optical sensor is used in conjunction with the acoustical sensors. In a first step, prior to the first acoustical target acquisition, the target background is optically scanned to store first optical image values defining an optical image of the target background to determine a firing range and a firing horizon. Thereafter, an acoustical ranging is performed for the target acquisition. Then the optical scanning and storing is repeated with regard to a firing horizon and when a target approaches the firing horizon, to provide second optical image values which are compared with the first image values to provide, by signal differentiation, proof of the presence of a target at the firing horizon. The resulting signal is used to control the weapon. The steps of optical scanning, signal storing, and comparing may be repeated for a target zone, which is larger than the target, whereby a target profile or silhouette is produced. The respective electrical signal is used for the fine adjustment of the weapon prior to firing by the target presence signal.

Method and apparatus for avoiding an undesired firing of a weapon

A guided bomb for use in low level flying for pinpoint target combat, comprises a bomb having a braking device associated therewith to produce a slow-down which is effective against the trajectory and a picture-taking sensor connected to the bomb to guide the bomb for final phase guidance. The braking device advantageously comprises retrorockets or a parachute. The picture-taking sensor is advantageously a television camera or an infrared camera and a tracker is associated with it which may be mounted, for example, on the aircraft carrying the bomb. The picture taken by the picture-taking sensor is transmitted via either a radio or mechanical connection to the aircraft and is reproduced there for guidance by the pilot. The target may advantageously be illuminated by a laser illuminator carried on the aircraft and the bomb advantageously has a tracker with laser vectoring.
