A battery box for a motor vehicle for receiving battery cells has a structural frame with at least two structural components joined to one another at the end face. Each structural component has at least one profile segment that is partially hollow and has a substantially L-shaped cross section. A reinforcement element for absorbing collision energy in the event of a collision is arranged within at least one of the profile segments. The reinforcement element is a molded part having a plurality of open cells, which are arranged adjacent to one another and with their longitudinal extent substantially parallel to one another. When the battery box is mounted in the motor vehicle, the open cells are oriented with their longitudinal extent substantially parallel to the transverse direction of the vehicle.

The invention relates to a structural component for a motor vehicle, comprising an at least partially hollow profiled segment, which can be connected to a motor vehicle body by means of at least two fastening elements arranged in a fastening section. The problem addressed by the invention is that of increasing the crash safety of the structural component. This problem is solved in that a reinforcing element () is arranged in the fastening section between a lateral impact surface () and the fastening elements (), which reinforcing element extends in the longitudinal direction of the profiled segment and, in the event of an impact from the impact surface, laterally comes into contact with the fastening means at least partially by means of displacement of the fastening elements, the impact energy thus being absorbed.

A vehicle is provided having an active bonnet and a pyrotechnic actuator configured to lift the active bonnet a plurality of times without having to perform maintenance on the pyrotechnic actuator. The pyrotechnic actuator includes a cylinder having an inlet opening, a first chamber and a second chamber that are separated by a central region; a piston that is configured to be displaced through the central region of the cylinder between a first position in the first chamber and a second position in the second chamber; and a carrier having first and second gas generators each being coupled to the inlet opening. The first gas generator is configured to be ignited to lift the active bonnet a first time, and the second gas generator is configured to be ignited independently of the first gas generator to lift the active bonnet a second time.
