An agent for proofing keratinous material against attack by pests that feed on keratin, which contains as active compound at least one diphenylurea of the formula ##STR1## and one synthetic pyrethroid and also, if desired, further auxiliaries, and also a process for proofing keratinous material against attack by keratin pests.

A process for protecting keratinous material with the aid of substantially novel pyridyloxytrifluoromethanesulfonanilides from pests that feed on keratin, said pyridyloxytrifluoromethanesulfonanilides having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, each independently of the other, are halogen, haloalkyl, alkyl, nitro, cyano, alkoxy or haloalkoxy or alkoxycarbonyl, and n and m, each independently of the other, are 0 or a value from 1 to 3, with the proviso that if n or m&gt;1, the substituents R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may be identical or different, and that at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of halogen, haloalkyl and haloalkoxy is present in the molecule. The present invention relates to a process for protecting keratinous material by treating it with an ester of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is the radical of an acid of the formula ##STR2## in which X is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl group or halogen or one of the two substituents X is a phenyl group, or R is the radical of 4-chlorophenylisopropylacetic acid, to compositions containing one or more of these esters, and to novel esters of the formula ##STR3## wherein R is the radical of an acid of the formula ##STR4## or of 4-chlorophenylisopropylacetic acid.

Mothproofing and beetleproofing agent for keratinous material and process

A method of protecting keratinous material, especially wool, from attack by insects that feed on keratin, which comprises treating said material with compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is oxygen or sulfur, each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently is alkyl, alkenyl, benzyl or unsubstituted or substituted phenyl, R.sub.3 is halogen, nitro or trihalomethyl, R.sub.4 is hydrogen, halogen or trihalomethyl, and R.sub.5 is hydrogen, halogen, methyl or methoxy. The invention also provides novel compounds of the formula (1) wherein at least one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is phenyl or substituted phenyl and X is oxygen as well as compositions containing the compounds of the formula (1) and compositions which, in addition to the compounds of formula (1), also contain synthetic pyrethroids, esters of .alpha.-alkyl-substituted phenylacetic acids or substituted sulfanilides.
