A blade device for turbo-engines, comprising a blade shell, a blade core and a blade base, has a blade core comprising a bundle of small tubes which provides the blade device with high stability and stiffness. The arrangement has the advantage that the blade device can be used universally in the case of almost all blade devices, and the blade core permits a heat exchanger function.

A shaped tube with an elliptical cross-section with a multichamber design for tubular heat exchangers is provided with at least two cross ribs passing through an interior space of the tube at a distance from one another. A method for making this tube provides for bending an endless metal strip into two semifinished products with congruent profiles. Each profile has the shape of an isosceles triangle with rounded vertices and an elongated leg. The semifinished products are then placed against one another so that the free end of the elongated leg of one semifinished product abut the triangle base edge of the other semifinished product.

Separate segments, oversized to allow for shrinkage during welding, are assembled in the shape of a ring. The segments may be plates carrying guide vanes. The assembled ring is placed in a vacuum chamber and the joints between segments welded by an electron beam. The welding may be carried out in two steps, namely, first track welding the segments together followed by finish welding the entire length of each joint. The segments may be held during welding in a fixture comprising a circular array of radially-slidable jaw elements which carry the separate segments. A clamping ring urges the jaw elements, and hence the segments, radially inwardly, and a cover plate engages the separate segments and urges them radially inwardly so as to clamp the segments together in a ring shape.
