The invention relates to a method for updating a digital map of a mobile navigation system, in particular a navigation system of a motor vehicle, wherein the updating of map data is improved with respect to the availability of current map data and the minimization of the data volume to be transferred (and thus also the avoidance of the updating of map data that are not required at all). For this purpose, a geographic region comprised by the digital map is divided into a plurality of regions, wherein map data of the digital map represent respective regions, wherein at least one of the regions has a first boundary line directly surrounding the region, wherein the region has an additional boundary line, which surrounds the region with greater distance than the first boundary line at least in some sections. The method comprises the following steps: determining a geographic position of the navigation system, checking a first condition of whether the position of the navigation system lies on or within the additional boundary line, and, if the first condition arises, updating the map data of the region.

Updating a digital map

In a method for generating map data of a digital map from raw data of the digital map with improved flexibility, an object-specific correction data set is used for generating the map data. The object-specific correction data set comprises precisely one value of a derived attribute for the map object, wherein the value of the derived attribute contained in the correction data set is allocated to the map object of the map data.

In a method and a corresponding device for managing map data of a digital map for a navigation apparatus, the map data include original map data, wherein the original map data are each associated with one or more original map tiles. A validity indicator is assigned to each of the original map tiles. In the event of an update of an update map tile, associated update map data are assigned and permanently stored, wherein the particular update map tile is provided in order to replace the associated original map tile. After the update map data of the particular update map tile have been successfully stored, the validity indicator of the associated original map tile is set to invalid. During operation of the navigation apparatus, the particular original map tile is loaded if the validity indicator assigned thereto is valid, and otherwise the update map tile associated with the particular original map tile is loaded.

A storage device is configured such that a multiplicity of location information objects, which in each case represent a location, is stored, and that a distance information object, which in each case represents the distance by road from the location of a location information object to the freeway exit closest to the location, is stored in association with the location information objects in each case. A method is provided for determining an ecological route attribute, in which at least one current energy consumption value is determined by a motor vehicle. A current measurement location is determined by the motor vehicle. An ecological location attribute, which includes the measurement location and the current energy consumption value, is formed by the motor vehicle and transmitted to a central processor. An ecological route attribute is determined by the central processor on the basis of a plurality of received ecological location attributes, which in each case includes a measurement location, which ecological route attribute describes an energy consumption on a route section which has a prescribed spatial relationship with the measurement locations.

In the case of a method for the input of input data into a vehicle navigation device, by which input data are supplied to the vehicle navigation device by way of a receive interface and the input data are subjected to a plausibility check, in the event of a negative plausibility check, a prompt is emitted for correcting the input data. The input data can be corrected by a user via an operating device, and the corrected input data are imported into the vehicle navigation device.
