A shielded connector comprises a housing of insulating material accommodating a plurality of contact elements, and a shielding plate comprising a front half and a back half. The front half has a plurality of contact portions and the back half has contact ends for connection to a printed circuit board. The housing is provided with at least one channel at a front end thereof, this at least one channel being open at its back end and closed at its front end for receiving the front end of the shielding plate. The shielding plate is provided with a bend near its front end for cooperation with back end of the channel. The connector is mounted on a printed circuit board and then the shielding plate is mounted on the printed circuit board by first inserting the front end of the lower shielding plate into the at least one channel until the contact ends are at least substantially aligned with the through holes of the printed circuit board and thereafter inserting the contact ends into the through holes of the printed circuit board.

A connector assembly for connecting a shielded cable with a plurality of conductors and a common shielding to a printed circuit board comprises a first connector having a housing of insulating material with contacts connected with the conductors and a metal hood connected with the common shielding. The housing is accommodated in the hood and comprises an insertion part protruding out of the hood along its complete circumference. The connector assembly comprises a second connector with a shielding lying at a distance from the second connector, the second connector having a receiving space for receiving the insertion part of the housing. The second connector with the shielding is mounted on the printed circuit board and the shielding is connected to a corresponding connector of the printed circuit board. The hood is provided with at least one projecting flange connected to the shielding of the second connector when the insertion part of the housing is inserted into the receiving space of the second connector.

Connector assembly

A connector assembly comprises a first connector (1) and a second connector (2) adapted to be mated with the first connector. Each connector has two spaced rows of contact elements (4,10) arranged at a given pitch, each of the contact elements having a contact face (6). In the first connector (1) at least two adjacent contact elements (4) of one row of contact elements are made integral as one first power contact element (13) having two contact faces (6) at the given pitch. In the second connector (2) at least one contact element (10) of one row of contact elements can be made integral with an opposite contact element (10) of the other row of contact elements as one second power contact element (14).

Connector assembly and power contact element

A connector assembly comprises a first connector (1) and a second connector (2) adapted to be mated with the first connector. The first connector (1) comprises a first housing (3) having a bottom (4) and two longitudinal walls (5, 6) determining a receiving space (8), a row of male signal contacts (9) projecting from the bottom upwardly into the receiving space and a row of male ground contacts (10), wherein as seen in row direction a male ground contact is located at both sides of a corresponding male signal contact. The second connector (2) comprises a second housing (11) which can be substantially completely received within the receiving space, and a row of female signal contacts (12) adapted to be connected with the male signal contacts when the connectors are mated. Each female signal contact is at least partially enclosed by a corresponding female ground contact (13) having two contact parts (14) adapted to be connected with the male ground contacts at both sides of the corresponding male signal contact when the connectors are mated. The female ground contact extends along substantially the full height of the second housing.

Connector assembly with interspaced signal and ground contacts

A connector for a cable with a plurality of conductors and a common shielding comprises a housing of insulating material with contacts to be connected with the conductors, and a metal hood. The housing is at least partially accommodated in the hood. The shielding of the cable can be connected to the hood and the metal hood is provided with a wall with a passage for the cable. This wall of the hood comprises an upright collar joining the passage and having a conical outer wall. A ring with a correspondingly conical inner wall can be attached on this wall of the hood while clamping the shielding of the cable between the conical outer wall of the collar and the conical inner wall of the ring.
