An electric motor (), in particular, an external rotor motor, has a stator () with a stator core (), a non-rotatably attached shaft (), that extends in the axial direction (A) of the motor, and a rotor bell (), rotatably arranged relative to the non-rotatable shaft (). The rotor bell () has cooling ribs in an open, spoke-like design rotatably mounted on the shaft () by at least one first stator-side bearing shield (). A cooling device () is arranged between and connects the shaft () and the stator core (). The cooling device () has a plurality of axial flow openings () arranged in the circumferential direction that causes cooling when the motor rotates during operation.

The invention relates to an electric motor, particularly an 'external rotor motor', comprised of a stator housing and a rotor housing which is rotatable with respect to the stator housing, wherein the rotor housing has a cooling ring disposed on its side which axially faces the stator housing, wherein the stator housing and the cooling ring are each provided with a plurality of first and second cooling fins (the second cooling fins also being referred to as 'cooling ribs') which face each other axially and are disposed so as to be distributed in the respective circumferential directions, which fins/ribs collaborate in flow technology when the rotor housing is in rotating operation; wherein, in an axial plan view, the first cooling fins extend radially outwardly, and the second cooling fins (the cooling ribs) are V-shaped and point in the circumferential direction, wherein a rotary relative movement of the first and second cooling fins (the cooling fins and the cooling ribs) generates a cooling air stream, at least between the stator housing and the rotor housing.

Disclosed is a rotor () for an electric rotor motor, consisting of a rotor bell () with a peripheral wall () and at least one one-sided rotor base () to enclose a stator, in particular as a part of a motor housing with a high IP rating, for example IP54 per DIN/IEC-EN 60034-5. The rotor bell () features a heat sink () with high heat conductivity that extends through the rotor base () in such a way that the motor heat arising on the inside can be removed via the heat sink () through the rotor base () to the outside into the environment. Further, the invention relates to an electric rotor motor, in particular with an encapsulated motor housing with a high IP-protection system, for example IP54 per DIN/IEC-EN 60034-5, consisting of a stator and a rotor () enclosing the stator in an embodiment of the above-described type.

The invention relates to a drive unit for a double fan consisting of two external rotor motors (1, 2) arranged alongside each other on a common motor shaft (3), wherein the external rotor motors (1, 2) are arranged with respect to each other in such a way that the poles of the stators (12) of the two motors (1, 2) and the poles of the rotors (7) of the two motors lie in mirror image symmetry with respect to each other with reference to a dividing plane X--X running between the two external rotor motors (1, 2) at right angles to the motor shaft (3).
