In a method for creating a design of a prescription surface of a multifocal lens, in particular for a progressive spectacle lens, at first data and second data for describing at least one aberration of an eye of a proband for a first situation of use and a second situation of use, respectively, are obtained, and then a first set of parameters and a second set of parameters of a predetermined prescription surface equation are determined from the first and second data, wherein the prescription surface equation is assigned to a first reference point of the prescription surface for the first set of parameters, and is assigned to a second reference point of the prescription surface for the second set of parameters.

In a method for calibrating a polarization axis measuring device, both flat sides of a calibration element in a polarization axis measuring device are irradiated with polarized light, wherein the method involves aligning in each case at least one polarization direction of the light in a first and/or second rotational position with a principal axis in a predefined angular relationship with respect to a polarization axis of the calibration element. Determining the rotational position of an axis of the calibration element is carried out by determining an angle bisector between the first and second rotational positions of the polarization direction of the incident light. A method of producing a progressive spectacle glass by defining an ordering value for the average use value in the far reference point of the progressive spectacle glass, calculating the progressive spectacle glass while taking into account a calculation value of the average use value in the far reference point, the calculation value having a negative desired refraction deviation between 0.03 dpt and 0.2 dpt with respect to the ordering value in the far reference point, and producing the calculated progressive spectacle glass.
