A relay, particularly a miniature relay, comprising a mounting base of insulating material having the contact system and the magnet system attached thereto a slip-on cover extends to the bottom of the mounting base, through which the coil and contact terminals are brought out. The core of the magnet system is disposed in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the cover. Accordingly a coil form is integrally formed on the mounting base on a side opposite the bottom (3) of the mounting base (2), and between the mounting base and an internal flange of the coil form there is a hollow portion which is open on at least one side and in which the pole piece is inserted.

Relay, particularly miniature relay

A flat-type polarized relay with contact springs disposed at the sides of a parallel to the coil system. A magnetic core projects beyond the coil form and cooperates with movable pole plates disposed together with a permanent magnet in a transversely movable cross slide. The magnet yoke is a U-shaped member made from flat material. The base of the yoke is rigidly connected with the magnetic core, and the legs run along the sides of the coil. The relay has a small overall height and a high switching capacity at small energizing currents.

Flat-type polarized relay

A relay is sealed with a sealing compound when the relay housing is in a closed state, thus causing an air cushion to be formed in the inside, with an afterflow of sealing compound into the interior being prevented. Following gelling or curing of the sealing compound, a vent hole is pierced into the relay housing which, if required, may be closed following degassing of the interior space of the relay.

Method of sealing a relay

A tilting-armature relay having an excitation coil and magnetic core mounted within a housing and supported by a magnet yoke. A tilted armature mounted above the core pivots about a knife-edge bearing and responds to an electromagnetic field. A supporting spring is clamped to the magnet yoke for providing a spring force against the armature and a leaf spring carrying a first of a set of electrical contacts is mounted atop and operates with the armature. The leaf spring is fixedly connected to the supporting spring forming an overlapping connecting piece for connecting the supporting spring to the armature. The supporting spring exerts a pulling force on the leaf spring for providing a restoring force to the armature forcing together the set of electrical contacts and exactly defining a contact pressure therebetween independent of the spring characteristic of the supporting spring.

Tilting armature relay with adjustable contact pressure

A wash-tight electromagnetic relay having a housing including a bottom part and a cover part. The cover part includes a top side in which a spigot projecting inwardly toward the relay is formed and which defines a borehole extending through the spigot to a spigot bottom having an opening. The borehole opens outwardly from the cover part permitting a ball to be tightly pressed therein. The bottom part is sealed to the cover part by a sealing material and the relay interior is degassed to exhaust gas contaminants, filled with an inert atmosphere and sealed by the ball to prevent the entry of further gas contaminants.

Wash-tight electromagnetic relay

In a compact electromagnetic miniature relay comprising a contact spring (12) which is firmly clamped at one end, and which bears double contacts (9, 10) arranged on each side, and with the connecting line thereof extending vertically in relation to the longitudinal axis of the contact spring, and which are capable of being moved by an actuator (6) arranged on the armature (5), from stationary break contacts (7) to stationary make contacts (8), with said contact spring (12) being divided by a longitudinal slot (16) partly into two parallel spring legs (19, 20) pretensioned against the break contacts (7), and in which the actuator (6) engages between the clamping point (13) and the free end (11) of the contact spring, the actuator (6), according to the invention, is designed to have at least the same width as the contact spring (12) at the actuating point (17), with the longitudinal slot (16) beginning at a small spacing from the actuating point (17) and extending up to the end (11) of the contact spring (12), thus forming two spring legs (19, 20) which are capable of being moved independently of one another and which bear the pairs of switching contacts (9, 10), and within the area between the actuating point (17) and the clamping point (13), the cross section of the contact spring (12) is reduced to such an extent that it can be twisted more easily. Consequently, a 'cross-contacting' of the double contacts is avoided and a service life of a relay can be prolonged.

Electromagnetic miniature relay

In a relay according to this invention the terminal elements (17) are injection-molded into wall members (2,3) which are so designed that they during assembly, and if so required, together with parts of the flange (35) of the coil (16) of the electromagnetic driving system, form a cup-shaped member having a bottom part (4). The rim portion (9) of the cover member (1) which is capable of being placed thereon, projects over the bottom part (4). The thus resulting space may be filled with a sealing compound (casting resin) (13). From this there results a tight relay consisting of a few individual parts only, which is easy to manufacture and which, moreover, is solder- and wash-tight.

Electromagnetic relay

A leakproof electromagnetic relay in which a pourable sealing compound is introduced into the interior of the lower housing of the relay. A recess is formed in at least one sidewall of the housing through which the sealing compound is poured. The compound distributes itself equally on the bottom of the housing and flows into the separating points or gaps of the housing by capillary action. A cover closes the recess after the compound has been poured in. The invention permits the relay to be sealed in its upright position and further processed.

Sealing means for an electromagnetic relay

An electromagnetic relay with an angular armature and a U-shaped yoke disposed on the coil form flange. The yoke comprises two legs extending in the direction of the coil axis, and a crosspiece having a foil-spring portion which rests on the angular edge of the tilting armature. The crosspiece carrying the foil-spring portion is clamped into position between the two legs. The crosspiece is made from a resilient material and is provided at its ends with flap members which engage into corresponding slots formed at the ends of the legs.

Electromagnetic relay with a housing consisting of two parts (1, 2) which are bonded to one another, with a circumferential groove (5) being provided for in one bottom part (1), which is filled with an adhesive (6) in which the cap-shaped housing member (2) immerses after having been placed into position. The groove (5) is arranged within the area in which the electric terminals (3) are led through the bottom part (1), so that simultaneously, the adhesive (6) also effects a sealing of the lead-through points (4) of the terminals (3).

Encased miniature relay comprises a magnet system with a core, a coil arranged on the core, an L-shaped yoke connected to one end to the core and an angular tilting armature which is, tiltably supported on the edge of the free end of the yoke. To obtain a holding force for the tilting armature, a permanent magnet is arranged in the free end of the magnetic path between the core and the yoke in the proximity of the arms of the armature.

Encased miniature relay

The relay includes an 'L'-shaped yoke and a cylindrical solenoid core mounted at end thereof in a hole in the short arm of the yoke. The other end of the core is terminated in a pole plate which engages one leg of an angle armature which is pivotally mounted at the end of the long arm of the yoke. The other leg of the angle armature is biased toward the long arm of the yoke by a flat leaf spring. The spring is mounted at one end thereof to the long arm of the yoke and includes a free end which projects through a slot in the other end of the angle armature for engaging a flattened portion of the angle armature at the apex edge of the angle armature. Upon deactivation of the relay, the angle armature is swivelled away from the pole plate until the flat spring is flatly applied to the flattened portion of the angle armature, thereby defining the deactivated end position of the armature.

Armature mount for an electromagnetic relay

A relay structure especially for miniature relays in which the armature part is held in place with respect to the electromagnet by means of shoulder pieces projecting within the relay housing. The housing and shoulder pieces may be made of a thermally softenable material, such as a 'thermoplastic,' so that the assembly may be heated and mechanically deformed to adjust clearances as a part of the final assembly process. Two versions of a flap or leaf spring for extra retention of the armature part are shown.

Miniature relay with bearing supports associated with the housing

An electrical connector having an insulator with semicircular recesses therein for receiving sheetmetal contacts. In the assembled condition, the contacts are applied with their broad sides to the straight inside wall of the recess while the cutting edges of the contacts are pressed into the curved inside wall of the recess. In this way the contact strips can be inserted in an oriented direction.

An improved magneto system of the type employing a U-shaped tiltable armature within an electromagnetic relay wherein the armature is capable of tilting to provide an operable airgap between the armature and the yoke in order to increase the magnet force against the contacts when one of the contacts becomes stuck. The improvement provided a three-point support to the armature by resting each of the armature arms on its corresponding contact spring bank and resting a portion of the center region of the armature on the yoke.
