Described herein is a composition having a fluoropolymer derived from the polymerization of a monomer and a sulfinate-containing molecule, wherein the sulfinate-containing molecule is selected from the group consisting of Formula (I), Formula (II); and combinations thereof, wherein X, X, and Xare each independently selected from H, F, Cl, a Cto Calkyl group, and a Cto Cfluorinated alkyl group; R is a linking group; Zand Zare independently selected from F, CF, and a perfluoroalkyl group; Rand Rare end-groups; p is 0 or 1; m is at least 1; and M is a cation. Also disclosed are methods of making and articles thereof. 

Fluorine-containing polymer comprising a sulfinate-containing molecule

Described herein is a composition comprising a fluorinated polysulfinic acid or a salt thereof having the following formula (I): wherein X, X, and Xare independently selected from H, F, Cl, Br, I, CF, and CHand wherein at least one of X, X, or Xis H; Ris a linking group; Zand Zare independently selected from Br, Cl, I, F, CF, and a perfluorinated alkyl group; M is a cation; p is 0 or 1; and n is at least 2. Also described is a method of making the partially fluorinated polysulfinic acid or salt thereof.

Partially fluorinated sulfinic acid monomers and their salts

Described herein is a method of coagulating a fluoropolymer latex comprising: providing an amorphous fluoropolymer latex; providing unmodified inorganic nanoparticles; contacting the amorphous fluoropolymer latex with a sufficient amount of unmodified inorganic nanoparticles to coagulate the amorphous fluoropolymer.

Polymer electrolyte membranes crosslinked by nitrile trimerization

A method is provided for making a crosslinked polymer electrolyte, typically in the form of a membrane for use as a polymer electrolyte membrane in an electrolytic cell such as a fuel cell, by trimerization of nitrile groups contained on groups pendant from the polymer. An aqueous bonding composition comprising a silane compound, a water-soluble surface tension-reducing compound, water, and substantially no organic solvent, and a method of using said aqueous bonding composition. The aqueous bonding composition can be used to produce a bonded article comprising a fluoropolymer bonded to a substrate.

Fluoroelastomer composition with improved bonding properties

Fluoroalkyl sulfinates were synthesized and used as a source of fluoroalkyl radicals in aqueous emulsion polymerization. The resulting polymers contained a high level of perfluoroalkyl end groups. When fluoroalkyl disulfinates were utilized, the fluoroalkyl moiety and was incorporated in the polymer backbone. These disulfinates act as monomers, yielding fluoropolymers with specific micro structural fragments, derived from the parent perfluoro disulfinate. Novel fluoropolymers can thus be prepared.
