The connecting duct which directs the flock-laden air stream into the chute is provided with a restriction as well as with a ring duct for directing air impulses into the duct via openings on opposite sides of the duct. The restriction causes the air stream to accelerate and, since the air flow is closer to one opening, rather than the other, a reduced pressure is created on that side. This, in turn, causes a pulse of air to travel from one end of the ring duct to the other. The air pulse continues into the connecting duct to deflect the flock-laden air stream towards the other opening. This sequence then continues in rapid fashion to allow an even deposit of the flock in the chute.

A rotatable cylinder or the like is provided between the branch duct and the main transporting duct in order to draw off a part flow of flock-laden air from the main air stream passing through the transport duct. The cylinder may be an integral part of the branch duct or a separate member. Rotation of the cylinder effects withdrawal of a part flow from the transport duct.

Apparatus for dividing a flock-laden air stream in pneumatic

An apparatus for separating opened fibre flocks from a transporting air stream composed of one chute or of a plurality of consecutive chutes connected to a transporting duct. At least one air permeable separating wall guides transporting air into an exhaust duct located behind the separating wall. A driven take-off device which forms a fibre layer is arranged at the lower chute end. The take-off device comprises a take-off roll which is arranged facing the air permeable separating wall and leaving free a small cross-section, as the deposited fibres pass through. The exhaust duct extends at least into the zone of the smallest clearance between the take-off roll and the wall, and, the take-off roll is sealed with respect to the other wall.

Apparatus for separating opened fibre flocks from a transporting air

An apparatus for eliminating metallic contaminations from a fibre transporting duct in spinning preparation, wherein an air stream transports fibre flocks through the duct. At a branching point of the fibre transporting duct leading to a waste duct there is pivotably arranged deflecting means operatively connected with and activated by a drive mechanism. The deflecting means are activated in response to the passage of a metallic object or other metallic contaminations through a section of the fibre transporting duct surrounded by a metal detector arranged upstream of the branching point, by means of a control device connected with a power source and the drive mechanism. Within a short time the deflecting means can be shifted from an idle or ineffectual position, where the transporting duct is open and the waste duct is maintained closed, into a working position, in which the transporting duct is closed and the waste duct is maintained open.

Apparatus for eliminating metallic contaminations from a fibre

Each card is interconnected to a multiplicity of pneumatic feed ducts via a branch duct which can be selectively placed in communication with any one of the feed ducts. Each branch duct includes a plurality of openings near one end, each of which is opened or closed relative to a feed duct by means of a sliding baffle. In addition, the upstream end of each branch duct is open to the atmosphere so that the same constant air pressure prevails in all of the feed chutes to the various cards.
