Pressing device for a casting pipe at the spout of a metallurgical container, wherein the pressing device is provided with spring-loaded pressing elements that can be pressed against guide surfaces of a casting pipe. The casting pipe includes a tubular part and an upper plate. The guide surfaces are arranged on the underside of the plate on both sides of the tubular part and are directed downward at an angle. They form a plate cross-section that is tapered downward. The pressing elements are each provided with a head that is convexly curved in the adjustment direction of the casting pipe and can be pressed against a guide surface of the casting pipe, which is curved in the longitudinal direction of the pressing element or in the adjustment direction. Compressive forces exerted by the pressing pins are optimally transmitted, more toward the casting pipe opening and therefore acting more evenly.

Sliding closure for a receptacle containing molten metal includes a housing frame that can be fastened to a spout of the receptacle, a first refractory base plate and a sliding unit having a refractory sliding plate that is sealingly pressed against the first base plate by spring elements and a contiguous refractory spout sleeve contained in the housing frame. The case has a second base plate juxtaposed to the first base plate and displaceable inside the housing frame at a right angle to the direction of movement of the sliding unit from an initial position in which the first base plate is in an operating position towards a final position in which the second base plate is in the operating position. It is therefore possible to replace the base plate, which wears outs quickly, by a new base plate in a rapid and convenient manner without interrupting the casting operation.

A fireproof unit for a sliding closure at the spout of a container containing metal melt, including a fireproof adapter block that can be placed on the container spout, a fireproof bottom plate connected thereto, to which bottom plate a slidable fireproof sliding plate can be connected, wherein the sliding plate allows the sliding closure to be opened or closed. In addition to the first bottom plate connected to the adapter block, a second bottom plate adjoins the adapter block. The second bottom plate can be slid in under the adapter block to replace the first bottom plate. The adapter block has a length in the direction of the second bottom plate such that the adapter block is in sliding contact with the second bottom plate at the lower sliding surface of the adapter block.

The invention relates to a sliding closure () for a metallurgical container, comprising two fireproof closing plates (), of which one is arranged in a slide unit () and is used to open and close a spout opening (). The other closing plate () is arranged in a metal housing () that can be fastened to the container. Said stationary housing () and the slide unit () also accommodate an upper fireproof inlet sleeve () on the container side and a lower fireproof spout sleeve (). In the housing () and in the slide unit (), at least one additional inner part () is arranged in each case, each additional inner part enclosing the spout sleeve () or the inlet sleeve (). Thus, thermal stresses in the slide unit or in the housing can be reduced and the risk of cracks forming can be significantly reduced.

Sliding closure for a metallurgical container

A closing plate for a sliding closure on the spout of a receptacle for molten metal, especially of a converter, includes an elongate refractory plate and a sheet metal jacket surrounding the same. The refractory plate has a sliding surface which can be braced with a sliding surface of a refractory closure plate interacting therewith or with a sliding surface of a refractory head part. The refractory plate has at least one tapering section which forms an angle with the sliding surface on at least one side delimiting the sliding surface, each tapering section being associated with a section of the refractory plate that projects beyond the sheet metal jacket. The closing plate reduces the risk of damage to the front faces of the refractory parts reduced during bracing of the parts with each other and/or during a relative adjustment of the refractory parts that are braced with each other.

A sliding closure for a vessel containing molten metal, having a slider unit guided in a slider housing, the slider unit having a push rod that can be connected to a drive rod of a linear drive via a coupling, wherein a mounting element for the linear drive is provided on the slider housing and receives the push rod and the drive rod on a coupling side. The mounting element is equipped with an automatically operating locking device for the linear drive. The slide closure operates reliably, both during the casting process and during transport thereof between the various stations of the plant.

The invention relates to a sliding closing element, especially for an intermediate distributor or similar metallurgical containers. According to the invention, the mobile sliding plate of said closing element can be driven by means of a drive comprising a driving road and a push rod connected thereto. In order to ensure that the oscillatory movement of the sliding plate does not impair the connection during operation, a coupling arranged as a connecting body between the opposite ends of the push rod and the driving rod is provided with two coupling parts that engage in each other without play.

A sliding gate valve for a vessel containing molten metal is provided which includes a housing and a lid pivotally mounted thereon. A sliding plate is sandwiched between two fixed plates and the three are received within the housing. Clamping elements are provided and are used in conjunction with the lid to secure the plates. A lock is provided to prevent movement of the lid in a direction parallel to movement of the sliding plate while allowing movement of the lid in a direction perpendicular to movement of the sliding plate. The lock is designed to assume a locked position whenever the sliding gate valve is mounted onto the vessel.

A metallurgical vessel has a refractory head piece and a vessel outlet at the refractory head piece. A sliding gate valve for this metallurgical vessel includes a housing frame that is mounted to the vessel at the outlet so as to be removable therefrom. A slider unit is mounted in the housing frame having a sliding plate therein. A refractory base plate is also mounted in the housing frame, and has an upper side with a plane sliding surface that is engaged with the refractory head piece and a lower side having a lower sliding surface that is parallel to the plane sliding surface. The sliding plate is pressed against the lower sliding surface of the refractory base plate. The refractory base plate is fixed in the housing frame in a direction parallel to the sliding surfaces of the refractory base plate, but is movable in the housing frame in a direction perpendicular to the sliding surface of the refractory base plate. Spring elements bias the sliding plate against the lower sliding surface of the refractory base plate, and the refractory base plate against the refractory head piece. By being able to easily remove the housing frame, both the refractory base plate and the sliding plate can be easily and quickly exchanged as necessary.

A discharge assembly for controlling the discharge of molten metal from a vessel includes a stator member mounted to extend through the vessel and a rotor member coupled to the stator member to be rotatable relative thereto. A lateral opening in the rotor member is brought into and out of alignment with a lateral opening in the stator member, thereby opening communication to a longitudinal discharge passage through the stator member. One of the members has a projection fitting into a recess in the other member, with complementary sliding sealing surfaces therebetween. The projection comprises an insert formed separately from the respectively member and fixed thereto to be non-rotatable relative thereto.

A slide gate nozzle for controlling the discharge of molten metal from a spout of a converter vessel includes a refractory bottom plate to be positioned stationarily with a discharge opening thereof aligned with an opening of the spout. A refractory slide valve plate is mounted for sliding movement relative to the bottom plate such that a discharge opening of the slide valve plate is brought into and out of alignment with the discharge opening of the bottom plate. A plurality of refractory shut-off plates are positioned sealingly between the bottom plate and the slide valve plate. A coupling mechanism is operably mounted to the shut-off plates to sequentially connect the shut-off plates rigidly either to the bottom plate or to the slide valve plate. As a result, the shut-off plates may be used sequentially to replace the slide valve plate.

A unit for controlling the discharge of molten metal from a metallurgical vessel includes a valve having a refractory stator fixed to refractory material of the unit constituting lining of the vessel and a refractory rotor disposed in the stator and movable relative to the stator between open and closed positions of the valve. The stator and the rotor have flow control passageways extending therein which can place the interior of the metallurgical vessel in communication with a discharge opening of the valve. A seal is established between the stator and the rotor over a portion thereof that surrounds the flow control passageways such that molten metal may not pass from the flow control passageways into an area between the stator and the rotor. Furthermore, a gap extends over the entire thickness of the refractory material between the stator and the rotor for accommodating for differences in the thermal expansion of the stator and the rotor during the discharging of molten metal through the valve to prevent the valve from jamming during the use thereof.

Stationary and sliding refractory valve bodies of a sliding closure unit, for use in controlling the discharge of molten material from a vessel, are mounted on respective support frames to be precisely centered with respect thereto and to prevent the application to the refractory valve bodies of stresses due to such mounting during operation of the unit. At least one bore hole and at least one elongated groove are formed in the refractory valve body. First and second rods are fixed to the respective support frame and extend therefrom into the bore hole and the groove, respectively. The bore hole is centered on a longitudinal axis of the groove extending in the direction of elongation thereof.

A sliding closure unit for controlling the discharge of molten metal from a metallurgical vessel includes a stationary refractory plate, a stationary housing assembly for mounting the stationary refractory plate on the metallurgical vessel, a movable refractory plate, the stationary and movable refractory plates having complementary, abutting relative sliding surfaces, and a movable frame mounting the movable refractory plate for movement with respect to the stationary refractory plate. The movable frame and movable refractory plate are urged toward the stationary refractory plate by levers mounted in the housing assembly for pivotal movement about axles fixed to the housing assembly and extending transverse to the direction of movement of the movable frame and movable refractory plate. Springs are mounted in the housing assembly to urge the levers to pivot about the respective axles toward the movable frame to thereby urge the movable frame and movable refractory plate toward the stationary refractory plate. Each lever and the respective spring are arranged in an elongated configuration extending in a direction substantially parallel to the direction of movement.
