In a twin-wire former for the production of a paper web, two wire belts (11 and 12) together form a twin-wire zone which is divided into three sections (I, II and III). In the first section (I) the two wires (11, 12) travel over a curved forming shoe (16). They form there a wedge-shaped inlet slot (15) with which a headbox (10) is directly associated. In the second section (II), several resiliently supported strips (27) rest against the lower wire (11) and between each of said strips (27) a rigidly mounted strip (28) rests against the upper wire (12). In the third section (III) both wire belts (11, 12) pass over another curved forming shoe (23).

Twin wire former

The invention is directed to a paper making machine having a wet end associated with a wet fiber web. A forming fabric has a plurality of voids therein and carries liquid from the fiber web. A roll disposed at the wet end of the paper making machine carries the forming fabric. The roll and the forming fabric define a diverging area therebetween which causes liquid in the forming fabric to exit the voids. A doctor back includes a doctor element associated with the roll. A shower provides a liquid output which is directed relative to and lubricates the doctor element. A suction chamber has an at least partially open top and an outlet. The open top is positioned relative to each of the doctor blade and the diverging area to collect liquid from the shower and liquid exiting the voids in the forming fabric in the diverging area. A cyclone separator connected to the suction chamber receives liquid from the suction chamber outlet. A centrifugal blower mounted on the separator generates a vacuum within the suction chamber to draw the liquid within the suction chamber into the separator.

The invention is directed to a wet end assembly disposed at a wet end of a paper making machine for forming a fiber web from a fiber suspension. A headbox including a plurality of inner walls defines a chamber. The headbox further includes an inlet in communication with the chamber for receiving the fiber suspension and a discharge nozzle in communication with the chamber for discharging the fiber suspension. The headbox further includes structure, engaged with the inner walls, for selectively and adjustably compensating for deflections of the inner walls. A former includes a moving top endless wire and a moving bottom endless wire, with the top endless wire and the bottom endless wire defining a converging gap therebetween. The converging gap has an entrance end positioned adjacent the discharge nozzle for receiving the fiber suspension therefrom. A press section includes a suction roll carrying an endless belt. The suction roll is positioned adjacent the top endless wire whereby the fiber suspension is transferred from a bottom of the top endless wire to a top of the endless belt.

Wet end assembly for a paper making machine

The invention is directed to a shoe press for removing water from a traveling fiber web. The shoe press includes a planar backing surface, and a shoe assembly disposed adjacent to the backing surface. The shoe assembly and the backing surface form a press nip therebetween extending in a running direction of the traveling fiber web. Four felts extend through the press nip and carries the fiber web through the press nip. The shoe assembly includes a plurality of shoes disposed adjacent to each other in the running direction of the fiber web, with each shoe being configured to apply a selected and independent compressive force against the at least one felt and the fiber web.

The dry end of a paper machine comprises a first dryer group with top drying cylinders, with a first drying wire and with bottom deflection suction rolls. Adjacent this, there is a second dryer group with bottom drying cylinders, with a second drying screen and with top deflection suction rolls. In this way, both sides of the web to be dried come, in succession, into direct contact with the drying cylinders. At the place where the web changes from the first drying wire to the second drying wire, there is a transfer suction roll which lies within the loop of the second support belt. The web travels there from the last cylinder of the first dryer group over an at least approximately straight travel path to the transfer suction roll and thus onto the second support belt.

Dry end with open reversal place

The present invention relates to a dryer section of a machine for the production of fibrous web, such as a paper web. The dryer section comprises at least one dryer group having at least one drying cylinder and an endless porous support belt that guides the web around each cylinder. This is followed by a reversing roll being formed as a suction roll. With the web being supported by said porous support belt the web directly contacts said reversing roll. A distance of at least 150 mm is provided between the cylinder and the reversing roll. A sealing strip extends transversely over and close to the inner side of the endless porous belt in the region where web and belt are traveling off the cylinder. For deflecting the air boundary layer which arrives together with the belt, a sealing support beam also extends transversely over the inner side of the belt and supports the sealing strip. The beam, the sealing strip, the reversing roll and a section of the belt which is tangential to the cylinder and the reversing roll together define an area of negative pressure.

The dry end of a paper machine comprises a first dryer group with top drying cylinders (11 to 14), with a first drying wire (10) and with bottom deflection suction rolls (21 to 23). Adjacent this, there is a second dryer group with bottom drying cylinders (15 to 18), with a second drying screen (20) and with top deflection suction rolls (25 to 27). In this way, both sides of the web (9) to be dried come, in succession, into direct contact with the drying cylinders. At the place where the web (9) changes from the first drying wire to the second drying wire, there is a transfer suction roll (24) which lies within the loop (20) of the second support belt. The web (9) travels there from the last cylinder (14) of the first dryer group over an at least approximately straight travel path to the transfer suction roll (24) and thus onto the second support belt (20).

Dry end

A drying end which comprises a plurality of drying groups. Referring to FIG. 2, each drying group has its own endless support belt (171-175) which travels together with the web alternately over drying cylinders (101-138) and guide rollers. In each drying group, at least some of the drying cylinders lie in a row of cylinders (161-168) which is arranged approximately vertically. Within the first drying group (160/161) the web travels downward through a vertical cylinder row (161), the lower side of the web contacting the cylinders. In the second drying group (162/163), the web first of all travels upward, the upper side of the web contacting the cylinders. At least two drying groups have two vertical cylinder rows (162-167). Referring to these later two groups, the rows of guide rollers in one drying group are arranged outside the corresponding cylinder rows, and in the other drying group the guide rollers are arranged inside the cylinder rows.
