A method for applying at least one enclosing element to a flat product composition wherein the enclosing element is subsequently applied around a selected edge of the product composition in a perpendicular manner with respect to said edge so as to rest against the product composition. A reliable operation that is independent of the type of enclosing element is achieved in that the selected edge of the product composition is moved forward along a transporting path, the enclosing element is held ready at a specified point of the transporting path so as to intersect the transporting path, the selected edge of the product composition is moved past the specified point, and at the same time the selected edge drives the enclosing element that is held ready.

The invention relates to a method for assembling a stack () consisting of single or multilayered pre-products () of equal or different sizes, said pre-products lying freely one on top of the other, wherein the stack () has two outer pre-products (). According to the method, the stack () is given a cohesion that facilitates later handling. The cohesion is achieved in a very simple and flexibly applicable manner by providing the slack () to be assembled in a first step, said stack consisting of pre-products (-) that lie freely one on top of the other, and by attaching at least one connecting element () to an edge () of the stack () in a second step such that said element overlaps the two outer pre-products () of the stack () in a clamping manner.

A reliable operation that is independent of the type of the strip is achieved in that the selected edge of the product composition is moved forward along a transporting path, the strip section is held ready at a specified point of the transporting path so as to intersect the transporting path, the selected edge of the product composition is moved past the specified point, and at the same time the selected edge drives the strip section that is held ready.

The device includes a first conveying device with a grouping stretch for creating a cycled product stream of product units from fed products, in a predefined sequence. The device also includes a conveying-away device for conveying away the product units in the predefined sequence in a cycled product stream. A device for processing objects which are conveyed one after another in a continuous manner, or a quasi endless material web, includes tools revolving on a revolving path. In one variant of the device, the tools are controllably pivotable relative to the revolving path in a manner such that their pivot position is adapted in a controlled manner to the objects to be processed or the material web, independently of an orientation of the revolving path. In a further variant of the device, the device includes at least one drive, which are controllable in a manner such that the tools in groups or individually, may be driven simultaneously at different speeds on the revolving path. This, for example, is realized by way of two drives, wherein each second tool is coupled to the first drive, and the other tools to the second drive.

Device for machining continuously successively transported, flat objects or an almost endless web of material

A conveying apparatus with conveying compartments () which can be displaced one behind the other along a conveying path has supporting surfaces (S) which are arranged in the conveying compartments and on which flat articles (G), in particular printed products, can be conveyed in a state in which they rest thereon. The supporting surfaces (S) are each formed by a flexible supporting belt (). In order to set different angles between the supporting surface (S) and the conveying path (), each conveying compartment () has a setting element (), which acts on the supporting belt () in a region between two belt ends which are fastened at two fastening locations () which are spaced apart from one another parallel to the conveying path (). The setting element () is further equipped in order to press articles (G) against the supporting surface (S) in an adjacent conveying compartment (').

Conveying apparatus

The device has successively disposed receiving elements (). These are formed by a channel-like base () and a wall () trailing as viewed in circumferential direction (U). The circumferential path () extends in the working section () at an incline such that the printed products () fed by means of the first conveyor () come to rest in the system at the base () and plane against the wall (). A sliding body () is associated with each receiving element (), the sliding body displacing the fed printed products () along the wall () of the receiving section () in the insertion section () by abutting the same. The printed products () are opened, wherein the second product part () is placed behind the hold-open element (), which is disposed on the forward receiving element (). Inserts () are added to the printed products () by means of a second conveyor ().

Device for fitting printed products with inserts

A conveying device for conveying and aligning flat products or stacks of flat products, in particular printed products, includes leading pins for stop on a leading edge of conveyed products and trailing pins or pushers for stop on a trailing edge of the conveyed products. The products are insertable between the leading and trailing pins and are thus aligned by the pins. A distance between successive pushers is adjustable without parts of the device having to be exchanged.

Device and method for conveying and aligning flat products

Different printed products () are fed by feeding units () and collated in compartments (), wherein the compartments () are conveyed substantially continuously past the feeding outlets () arranged successively in a line, and a printed product () is added through each feeding outlet (). The compartments () have a compartment base () and a transverse wall (), wherein the compartment base () is inclined at least in a feeding region () of a circuit () of the compartments () in a conveying direction and the transverse wall () is upstream or downstream depending on the direction of inclination of the compartments. The compartments () are coupled to a conveying means such that they are rotatable around a substantially horizontal and/or substantially vertical axis. Thus, it becomes possible to maintain the inclination angle of the compartments which they have in the feeding region, in a region () for conveying further, an extraction region () with inclining or declining gradients.

Apparatus for collating flat objects and for conveying the collated objects further

In order to package flat objects () with the aid of a quasi-endless packaging material web, the packaging material web is placed around a row () of the objects (), in which these objects are conveyed one after the other and in an interspaced manner, whereupon longitudinal seams are made in the packaging material web and transversal seams are made between the objects () whereby separating the packaged objects from one another. In contrast to prior art packaging methods during which the row is formed before the packaging material web is fed thereto, the invention provides that the row is directly formed on the packaging material web () during which the objects are, by acceleration, separated out from a supply stream (), in which they are fed while overlapping one another, and directly placed upon or pushed onto the packaging material web (). Forming the row () directly on the packaging material web () eliminates additional conveying steps whereby shortening the entire required conveyor lines and rendering stabilizing means for stabilizing the objects () during conveyance unnecessary thus leading to very compact and simple packaging devices. The packaging method is particularly suited for packaging objects that consist of a number of stacked printed products or other flat articles.

An apparatus () for inscribing folded printed products () having a first product part () and a second product part () joined together by a fold (). The printed products () are conveyed by a conveyor device (), with the fold () astride receiving saddles () disposed transversely to the direction of conveyance (F), through an inscribing section () to which a inscribing station () is assigned. For the inscribing of an outer side () of the first product part () disposed in leading arrangement in the direction of conveyance (F), a region () of the outer side () comes into contact with a fixed support surface () assigned to the inscribing section () and is inscribed by the inscribing station (). For the inscribing of an inner side () of the second product part (), the first product part () is respectively raised from a supporting member (), assigned at least in the inscribing section () to the receiving saddles (), such that a region () of the inner side () of the second product part () is exposed and this exposed region () comes to bear upon the support surface () and can hence be inscribing by the inscribing station ().

Method and device for inscribing printed products

The invention relates to a method and to a device for creating a product flow according to a predefined sequence (S). The products (A, B, C) are fed from different feed flows of a grouping path (G) and there, according to the sequence (S), are deposited onto a conveyor () with a closed revolving path (U). According to the invention a repair function is realised in which the products (A, B, C) are then only transferred from the conveyor to a further-processing station if the sequence (S) is correct and all products (A, B, C) are present with the desired quality. Otherwise, the products (A, B, C) are led by the continuously operated conveyors (A, B, C) back to the grouping path (G). Here, the error is corrected by way of the deposition of the missing product (A, B, C), whilst the deposition of new products (A, B, C) is interrupted. For error correction, one may previously provide a discharge of a defect or wrong product (A, B, C). After the error correction, the creation of the product flow is continued by way of the sequentially correct deposition of further products (A, B, C). The method permits the error-free and sequentially correct creation of infinitely long and infinitely assembled sequences (S).
