A control loop device includes an electrical converter designed for negative feedback of an amplitude and/or frequency of the AC voltage to produce an amplitude and/or frequency of the arc current. The converter includes an input port having a system power supply connected thereto, and an output port having a melting furnace power supply and a primary circuit of a first transformer connected thereto, wherein a secondary circuit of the first transformer is connected to the arc furnace electrode. A primary coil of a second transformer is connected in parallel with the converter input port, and a secondary coil of the first transformer is connected in series with a secondary coil of the second transformer.

Electric switching device for medium and/or high-voltage uses

A fuse element and a method for manufacturing the same are provided whereby the fuse element contains an active response part which is formed by an elongated fuse metal strip having at least four metal sub-strips. At least two of the metal sub-strips are parallel and the sub-strips are defined by two elongated recesses within one or two elongated fuse metal strips. The two recesses are provided in serial alignment along the respective fuse metal strip having leading and trailing parts for electrical connection of each fuse element. The elongated fuse metal strip can be reinforced by an elongated dielectric base layer made of polymer material. Accordingly, performance of such a fuse element can be increased and manufacturing costs can be decreased. The fuse element can be applied to a plurality of capacitor sub-units being integrated in housings and submerged in a cooling and insulating liquid within the housing.

Fuse element

A transformer including a coaxial transmission line and a series circuit of discrete stages of voltage sources arranged along a main axis of wave propagation. Electromagnetic waves are propagated along the coaxial transmission line in each stage and are coupled in the coaxial transmission line by pulse currents. Each stage has a coupling-in inductance formed by discrete inductances that generate the pulse currents. The discrete inductances are magnetically coupled to each other such that magnetic fluxes of the discrete inductances are superimposed on one another and added to one another along a circular line that is rotationally symmetrical to the main axis of wave propagation.

A tap changer for uninterrupted switching between winding taps of a tapped transformer has first and second load branches for each phase to be switched. Each load branch has a main vacuum switch and in parallel thereto a series connection of a switch-over resistance and a respective auxiliary vacuum switch. First and second vacuum switching tubes each contain the main vacuum switch of the respective first and second load branches and the auxiliary vacuum switch of the other of the load branches.

The invention relates to a tap changer having vacuum interrupters for switching over between winding taps of a tapped transformer without interruption. The tap changer according to the invention having vacuum interrupters is based on the general idea of combining the functionalities of at least one conventional vacuum switching contact which switches under load and a further mechanical switching means according to the prior art in just one single vacuum interrupter with two separately moving contact systems.

A switch for a high-voltage direct current transmission path includes a vacuum circuit breaker for disconnecting the transmission path and a gas-insulated circuit breaker for disconnecting the transmission path. The gas-insulated circuit breaker is connected in series with the vacuum circuit breaker. A device is provided for building up a counter-current against the current in the transmission path for the purpose of reducing the current across the vacuum circuit breaker. The elements of the switch are actuated by a control device in such a way that the switch is switched off at or close to the zero crossing of the current.

A vacuum switch tube has a housing which has two insulating housing regions arranged and configured symmetrically in respect of a center plane. Each of the two insulating housings contains a plurality of insulating housing parts. Shielding elements extend into the interior of the vacuum switch tube and are arranged between neighboring insulating housing parts and between insulating housing parts and neighboring additional housing parts. The shielding elements have improved dielectric properties and a simultaneously material-saving structure. Accordingly, the geometrical dimensions of the shielding elements are determined in dependence on a connected voltage and possible critical field strength between neighboring shields.
