A two-stroke engine has a cylinder with a combustion chamber formed therein. The combustion chamber is delimited by a piston. The cylinder has a base on which extends a partition plane whereat the cylinder is separated from a crankcase. The combustion chamber is, in at least one piston position, connected via at least one transfer channel to the crankcase interior. The transfer channel passes from the cylinder into the crankcase at at least one opening. A side wall of the transfer channel has, in the cylinder, a first region wherein the wall encloses an angle of 90&#xb0; with the cylinder longitudinal axis. Between the first region and the opening as viewed in the cylinder circumferential direction is arranged a second wall region. The second region has a spacing, measured parallel to the cylinder longitudinal axis, to the partition plane. The spacing is greater than the spacing in the first region.

Two-stroke engine

A work apparatus has a work tool and a combustion engine for driving the work tool and further includes a start enrichment device for the combustion engine. The start enrichment device has a start position and is actuated via an operating mode selector. The work apparatus has a braking arrangement which brakes the work tool in the actuated position and releases the work tool in the unactuated position, and also an actuating device for the braking arrangement. To ensure that the start position can only be engaged when the braking arrangement is actuated, the work apparatus has a blocking device which prevents engagement of the start position in a blocking position. The braking arrangement is coupled to the blocking device such that the blocking device is in the blocking position with the braking arrangement in the unactuated position.

A two-stroke engine has a cylinder with a combustion chamber and a reciprocating piston for driving a crankshaft. Transfer passages connect the crankcase in at least one position of the piston with the combustion chamber and open by piston-controlled transfer ports into the combustion chamber. An inlet opens into the crankcase and an outlet is provided at the combustion chamber. The engine is dividable into four sectors parallel to a longitudinal cylinder axis. The transfer port of a first transfer passage is arranged in the first sector, the outlet is arranged in the second sector, the transfer port of a second transfer passage is provided in the third sector, and the inlet is arranged in the fourth sector. Within the cylinder the first and second transfer passages, at a spacing from a separation plane between cylinder and crankcase, pass together into one of the second and fourth sectors.

Two-stroke engine, sand core for producing a two-stroke engine, and method for operating a two-stroke engine

An engine has a cylinder wherein a reciprocating piston is mounted. The piston drives, via a connecting rod (), a crankshaft () pivotably mounted in a crankcase. The connecting rod is connected to the piston via a piston pin. An inlet window for combustion air is provided and controlled by the piston. The piston separates a combustion chamber from the crankcase interior space and has a piston base the underside of which is oriented toward the crankcase. To achieve good cooling of the piston and of the piston pin bearing, a first flow-guide element is provided within the crankcase interior space adjacent to the inlet window. The first flow-guide element redirects the combustion air flowing in through the inlet window in the direction of the underside of the piston base.

An internal combustion engine has a cylinder () wherein a combustion chamber () is formed which is delimited by a piston () journalled to move back and forth. At least one transfer channel () is provided which connects the crankcase () of the engine to the combustion chamber () in at least one position of the piston (). The engine has a supply channel () which opens with a supply channel inlet () at the cylinder bore (). The supply channel () is connected to the transfer channel () via at least one piston pocket () in at least one position of the piston (). In order to achieve low exhaust-gas values of the engine, the piston pocket () has a distance (a) to a lower edge () of the transfer window () which is less than the distance (b) to a lower edge () of the inlet () of the supply channel at bottom dead center of the piston (). A method for operating an engine provides that the piston pocket () is first connected to the transfer window () and then to the supply channel inlet () during the upward stroke of the piston ().

Internal combustion engine and method of operating the same

A carburetor has a housing and an intake passage section disposed in the housing. A throttle element is arranged in the intake passage section and a choke element is arranged in the intake passage section upstream of the throttle element. At least one fuel opening opens downstream of the choke element into the intake passage section. A fuel valve controls a fuel quantity supplied to the at least one fuel opening. At least one auxiliary fuel port opens upstream of the choke element into the intake passage section.

Carburetor

An internal combustion engine has a carburetor and an intake channel for supplying fuel and combustion air, wherein a section of the intake channel is formed in the carburetor. At least one fuel opening is provided that opens into the intake channel within the carburetor. The intake channel has an intake opening that is connected to a clean chamber of the air filter of the internal combustion engine, wherein the internal combustion engine takes in air through at least one filter element of the air filter. A choke element is arranged in the clean chamber and moveable into a choke position and into an open position. In the open position, the choke element shields the at least one filter element.

An internal combustion engine having an intake channel for supply of fuel and combustion air, and divided over a portion of its length into a mixture channel, and into a supply channel for supply of largely fuel-free air. A simple manufacture of the engine and a simple construction are achieved if a portion of the intake channel is guided in an elastic intake adapter, whereby the intake adapter has a partition that extends over at least a portion of the length of the intake adapter and divides the intake channel into a mixture channel and a supply channel.

Internal combustion engine

A two-stroke engine has a cylinder and a piston reciprocating in the cylinder and delimiting a combustion chamber. The piston has at least one piston recess. A crankshaft is rotatably arranged in a crankcase connected to the cylinder. A connecting rod connects piston and crankshaft. Transfer channels connect the crankcase to the combustion chamber in pre-defined piston positions. The transfer channels each have a transfer port opening into the combustion chamber. A device for supplying fuel and an air channel supplying combustion air are provided. In predetermined piston positions, the air channel is connected by the piston recess to the transfer ports. The air channel opens into the cylinder bore opposite the exhaust for the exhaust gases. The air channel, the piston recess, and the transfer channels define an air passage that provides approximately uniform distribution of air from the air channel into the transfer channels.

A method operates a single cylinder two-stroke engine having a cylinder wherein a combustion chamber is formed which is delimited by a piston. The piston drives a crankshaft rotatably journalled in a crankcase. In the method, fuel and combustion air are supplied to the two-stroke engine. In the combustion chamber, a mixture of fuel and combustion air is ignited and the exhaust gases flow out from the combustion chamber via an outlet. At idle, no fuel is metered over a crankshaft angle (&#x3b1;) of at least 700&#xb0; in order to provide a smooth running of the two-stroke engine with low exhaust-gas values.

Method of operating a single cylinder two-stroke engine

A two-stroke engine () includes a cylinder () having a combustion chamber (). The combustion chamber () is delimited by a piston () which drives a crankshaft () rotatably journalled in a crankcase (). The two-stroke engine () includes a fuel line () wherein an electromagnetic valve () is mounted. The valve () is controlled by a control unit. An air channel () is provided for supplying combustion air. The two-stroke engine () has at least one transfer channel () which connects the combustion chamber () to the crankcase () at pregiven piston positions. An ignition module () is provided which triggers the ignition of a spark plug () projecting into the combustion chamber (). The valve () and the control of the valve () are integrated into the ignition module ().

A two-cycle engine having a piston reciprocalbly mounted in a cylinder in which a combustion chamber is formed. In prescribed positions of the piston, the combustion chamber communicates with a crankcase via at least one transfer channel. A portion of an intake channel for supplying fuel/air mixture and combustion air is formed in a carburetor, in which is pivotably mounted a butterfly valve for controlling the flow cross-section of the intake channel. A fuel opening opens into the intake channel portion, and downstream of the carburetor the intake channel is divided into a mixture channel and an air channel. A mechanism is disposed on the butterfly valve to increase the speed of flow in the carburetor in the vicinity of the fuel opening.

Two-cycle engine

The invention is directed to a crankshaft () of an internal combustion engine including an internal combustion engine for a portable handheld work apparatus such as a motor-driven chain saw or the like. The invention is also directed to a method for making the crankshaft () as well as an internal combustion engine with a corresponding crankshaft (). The crankshaft () is made up of separately manufactured parts and includes a crank arm () having a central cutout () for accommodating a shaft lug () of the crankshaft () and an eccentric cutout () for accommodating a crank pin (). The crank pin () journals a connecting rod (). A centrifugal mass portion () is provided on the crank arm () at its end lying opposite the eccentric cutout (). The centrifugal mass portion () is configured as one piece with the crank arm () and is bent out of a plane () of the crank arm () in the direction of the connecting rod ().

The work apparatus has a handle () for carrying and guiding the work apparatus (). Thumb supports () are provided on both sides with respect to the longitudinal axis () of the handle ().

A two-cycle engine in a portable, manually-guided implement, such as a power chain saw, a cut-off machine, a brush cutter, or the like, is provided. The cylinder has a combustion chamber that is delimited by a reciprocating piston that via a connecting rod drives a crankshaft that is mounted in a crankcase so as to be rotatable about a crankshaft axis. The cylinder has an outlet for conveying exhaust gases out of the combustion chamber, with the outlet having an axis of the channel thereof. The cylinder also has an inlet for supplying a fuel/air mixture to the crankcase. By means of at least two transfer channels, the fuel/air mixture is conveyed out of the crankcase and into the combustion chamber, with the transfer channels being disposed symmetrically relative to the axis of the channel of the outlet. When viewed in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the cylinder, the axis of the channel of the outlet is disposed at an angle of less than 90&#xb0; relative to the longitudinal central axis of the crankshaft.
