Method of testing the functionality of condensate dischargers. Any ultrasonic vibrations present in the condensate discharger are picked up with an ultrasonic vibration sensor and transformed into an electric output signal. The latter is compared in an evaluation unit with stored data. A test result is then formed based on predetermined decision criteria. The test is carried out over a predetermined test duration, within which instantaneous values of the ultrasonic vibrations are picked up at predetermined times and, if need be, smoothed. The test result is based on the instantaneous values.

Method of checking condensate dischargers

A probe for monitoring a liquid level has a one-piece insulation sheath extended within the probe casing and positioned far beyond the end of a contact pressure spring that is removed from the liquid. This contact pressure spring has an associated spring abutment formed by either a sleeve or a cap surrounding the insulation sheath. In the probe casing, lengthy sections of insulation are present such that functional interferences are avoided. The probe casing has large-dimensioned ventilation apertures for preventing moisture films.

A condensate drain has a short housing and contains a monitor device which avoids incorrect signals. A testing chamber is located in the housing, laterally adjacent to an entry channel, and therefore upstream of the drain device in the flow direction. A pipe forms the partition in the testing chamber. The condensate drain can be used in all instances where monitoring of its correct operation is required.

There is provided a thermally controlled valve having a valve seat, a closure valve associated therewith, an expansion capsule containing an evaporation medium which actuates the closure valve by a stroke displaceable wall part, and a snap spring biasing the closure in the opening direction and arranged so that in the closed position of the valve, the spring occupies a position of stroke lying in the range of stroke between the force maximum and the force minimum of its force stroke characteristic.

Thermally controlled valve

A thermally controlled valve is provided having a valve seat, a closure valve cooperating with the valve seat, a diaphragm capsule, a plate spring, and an abutment supporting the plate spring along its outer edge. The diaphragm capsule includes a rigid wall part and a diaphragm component actuating the closure valve, the wall part and the diaphragm component being joined with each other along their outer edges and forming a reservoir therebetween for an evaporation medium. The plate spring rests against the face side of the diaphragm component which is averted from the wall part of the diaphragm capsule, and the inner edge of the plate spring engages the closure valve so as to act thereon in the opening direction.

There is provided a steam trap having a first valve seat and cooperating closure valve, and an associated control device. A second valve seat and cooperating closure valve are disposed downstream of the first valve seat. An actuating element influenced by the inlet pressure is provided for the second closure valve, which, furthermore, is acted upon by an opening biasing force of a certain magnitude.

Steam trap

A steam trap with a closure element or valve disposed on the low pressure side cooperating with a valve seat, the valve being actuated by a control unit disposed in the high pressure chamber of the steam trap. The control unit includes a plurality of bimetallic spring elements each having a support portion and an operative portion and different actuation temperatures which act on the valve stem to close the valve on the valve seat. The support portions of the bimetallic spring elements engage a stationary support of said steam trap and the operative portions thereof engage the valve stem. The engagement of the bimetallic spring elements with the valve stem is such that when the valve is closed by the action of the bimetallic spring elements having the higher actuation temperatures, the bimetallic spring elements having the lower actuation temperatures are unaffected thereby and thus not stressed by the spring forces of the bimetallic spring elements of the higher actuation temperatures.

Bimetallically controlled steam trap

In a discharge device for a condensate operative within a given temperature range, and including a housing, a valve seat disposed in the housing, a closure part cooperating with the valve seat and subjected to an inlet pressure, a bimetallic snap disc carrying the closure part, being supported in the housing, subjected to the inlet pressure, and moving towards the valve seat upon an increase of temperature within the temperature range, the improvement includes an entrainment device carried by the closure part and connected to the bimetallic snap disc, wherein the closure part and the bimetallic snap disc define a central axis, and the closure part is movable along a path defined by the axis relative to the bimetallic snap disc, the bimetallic snap disc has an opening snap stroke, a closing snap stroke, and a snap stroke portion common with the opening and closing snap strokes, and exerting in a predetermined region a force in a closing direction, and wherein the valve seat is disposed within the predetermined region and within the common snap stroke portion.

There is provided a steam trap having a thermal control element arranged on the high-pressure side containing an expanding medium and a shut-off unit closing in the direction of flow. The shut-off unit includes two closure members and two valve seats forming two series-connected, independent sealing units, which are opened or closed one after the other in series fashion by the control element so as to reduce wear of the shut-off unit. The two sealing units are arranged in a single assembly which is coupled to the control element for ease of installation.

A condensate discharge device includes a housing formed with a flow chamber, and inlet and outlet pressure regions. A valve seat is disposed in the inlet region, and a closure part cooperates with the valve seat, so as to be able to rest thereon. A closed float is disposed in the flow chamber, and is movable along a stroke distance, and a lever mechanism connects the float with the closure part, and has a force transmission ratio proportional to the stroke distance. The improvement includes the flow chamber operating as a condensate throughput chamber, with the float dividing the flow chamber into upper and lower zones. Additionally, a throttle aperture is formed between the periphery of the float and a wall which at least partially defines the flow chamber, which aperture communicates with the zones; the flow chamber formed upstream of the throttle aperture is provided with an inflow opening, and the valve seat and the closure part are disposed in the flow chamber downstream of that throttle aperture so when the condensate fills the flow chamber to a predetermined level, the float will move within the flow chamber and raise the closing element off said valve seat to permit the condensate to be drained through the throttle aperture into the outlet region.

A thermic control element has a plate-like wall part and a membrane member which is peripherally coupled therewith which, on its one side, supports a locking element and, on its other side, a counter plate facing the wall part. The locking element, the membrane member and the counter plate are rigidly coupled with each other in their central area and the wall part has a cup-shaped curvature with a support face for the outer edge zone of the counter plate. An expansion medium is contained in a receiving chamber formed between the wall part and the membrane member. In the open end position of the locking element, the locking element and the wall part are provided with corresponding cooperating stroke engaging faces and, in the locking element closing position, the axial distance between the stroke engagement faces of the locking element and the wall part is smaller than the axial distance between the support face and the outer edge zone of the counter plate.

Thermic control element

A steam trap is provided with a bimetallic control element disposed at the prepressure side and a locking element actuated by the bimetallic control element which is biased in the opening direction by the prepressure and which cooperates with a valve seat. The bimetallic control element is provided with at least two bimetallic spring disks which are serially connected in such a manner that when the locking element is open during the slow-speed stroke of the bimetallic spring disks, the stroke movement of the locking element is the sum of the slow-speed strokes of all of the bimetallic spring disks. The bimetallic spring disks are different from each other with respect to their spring force and temperature, as well as with respect to each other's spring constant, so that each of the bimetallic spring disks closes the locking element by a spring stroke within a separate section of the total operating pressure range of the steam trap, at temperatures in the proximity of a predetermined pressure-temperature curve.

Bimetallic-controlled steam trap

A steam trap includes a housing having an inner chamber, a feed opening and a discharge opening disposed adjacent to one another and communicating with the inner chamber, and a control unit disposed in the chamber including at least one bimetallic plate, a locking member disposed at the low pressure end of the trap and secured to a valve spindle extending centrally through the bimetallic plate and having a cam mounted thereon for engagement with the bimetallic plate and a seat sleeve which defines a valve seat and an abutment for cooperative engagement with said locking member and bimetallic plate, respectively. The seat sleeve includes a feed bushing which, in cooperation with the valve spindle, defines a flow channel therebetween and the cam consists of a cap disposed over a free end of the feed bushing projecting above the bimetallic plate, on the latter of which the cap is supported. Either of the feed bushing or the cap is provided with at least one admission opening which communicates with the flow channel.

Bimetallic controlled steam trap

A steam trap has a bimetallic control element provided on the prepressure side and a locking part which is biased by the prepressure in the opening direction and which is actuated by the bimetallic control element. The bimetallic control element is provided with at least one bimetallic snap disk and the valve seat is stroke-movably positioned, whereby the maximum stroke path of the valve seat is only a part of the operating stroke of the locking part.
