A method and apparatus for receiving a tire, especially for checking the concentricity of a pneumatic vehicle tire that during operation has its bead portions mounted on the radially inner periphery of a wheel rim. A test rim is provided that comprises two axially movable rim ring sections that in turn are provided with pivotable rim flange segments toward which cooperating parts are axially movable from beyond the tire. The bead zones of the trapezoidally mounted tire are engaged by the cooperating parts and are brought into the rim-setting position. The pivotable rim flange segments are swung radially inwardly, so that the bead portions are held between the cooperating parts and the rim ring sections. The bead seat is sealed by sealing lips.

Method and apparatus for receiving a tire

A filler ring, made of rubber or synthetic material, for a vehicle wheel and pneumatic tire assembly where the beads of the tire are mounted on the radially inner periphery of a wheel rim next to essentially radially inwardly extending rim flanges. The filler ring covers a space located axially inwardly of a rim flange. The filler ring includes at least two planes of circumferential hollow chambers, with the planes of hollow chambers being superimposed on one another in a radial direction, and with at least two hollow chambers, which are successively arranged in an axial direction, being provided in each of the planes of such hollow chambers.

Filler ring for a vehicle wheel and tire assembly

A vehicle wheel and pneumatic tire assembly having a counter-weight. The assembly includes a rigid rim having essentially radially inwardly extending rim flanges, a pneumatic vehicle tire, the beads of which are mounted on the radially inner side of the rim next to the rim flanges, and respective cover rings that occupy any space disposed axially inwardly of each tire bead. In order after a counter-weight has been mounted to prevent dirt or water from penetrating between the tire bead and the cover ring, a mounting element, which serves to support the counter-weight, extends into a slot of the cover ring. The base of this slot is disposed within the cover ring.
