A method of manufacturing a wire includes pressing a lacquer-coated wire having a round cross-section into a wire having a long cross-sectional axis and a short cross-sectional axis, wherein the ratio of the axes is at most 3:1.

A stereophonic binaural recording and reproduction method for audio signals presented to headsets. Signals of the left stereo channel are supplied to the left ear, weighted with the outer ear transmission function of the left ear for the angle range of between 0.degree. to 45.degree. to the left of the median plane, and to the right ear, weighted with the outer ear transmission function of the right ear for the same angle range. Additionally, time-delayed signals of the left stereo channel are supplied to the right ear, weighted with the outer ear transmission function of this ear for the opposite angle range, wherein the delay is markedly outside of the time range of the sum localization and of the audible echo. The signals of the right stereo channel are supplied to the right and left ear in the same manner but mirror-inverted relative to the median plane. Any necessary equalizations of the amplitude-frequency characteristic are carried out without influencing the time structures by means of linear phase digital filters on the outer ear transmission functions.

Stereophonic binaural recording or reproduction method

A resiliently fastened support device for supporting an arrangement carrying a microphone, such as, a tripod tube, a gooseneck, a plug-type connection or the like. The support device is connected to an end of the arrangement which faces away from the microphone. The mass of the support device is a multiple of the mass of the microphone and the arrangement carrying the microphone.

A pressure gradient pickup, particularly a capacitor microphone or a dynamic microphone, has a diaphragm arranged in a housing and at least one sound entry opening which conducts the sound to the rear side of the diaphragm. Acoustically acting phase-shifting sections are connected in the interior of the housing to the at least one sound entry opening. The at least one sound entry opening is located at least approximately in the same plane as the diaphragm and is preferably arranged concentrically relative to the diaphragm edge.

Pressure gradient pickup

A directional microphone operating according to the electrostatic or electrodynamic transducer principle. The pickup effect of the microphone is determined by a single phase-shifting delay line section between the rear side of the active transducer diaphragm and at least one sound entry opening provided in the microphone housing at a distance behind the plane of the diaphragm. The microphone includes at least one acoustic element coupled to the delay line section. The delay line section is arranged with the acoustic element or elements so as to have a lower limit frequency in the range of 300 Hz.

Directional microphone

A breathing mask includes a carrier which has an inhalation passage and an exhalation passage and a passage over which a speaking diaphragm is extended for speech transmission from the interior of the mask to the exterior. In accordance with the invention an electrostatic transducer has a moving part which is coupled directly to the speaking diaphragm to provide for improved speech transmission.

An ear piece for a sound producing device such as a headset comprises an annular ear cushion with at least one part of an elastic, soft, sound permeable foam and at least one other part of a sound permeable layer which is thin in relation to the overall thickness of the air cushion and has a defined acoustic impedance for low and medium frequencies of the audibility range. The ear cushion acts as a frictional resistance with a central portion defining coupling space from the sound producing device to the ear and representing an acoustic connection through the sound producing device to the air.

Ear piece construction

A stylus for stereo pickups tracking acoustic events mechanically recorded in grooves of a plate shaped record carrier comprises a soft iron tube which is adapted to embody a transducer and which has an open end into which a needle support tube is engaged and secured such as by adhesive connection. The needle is carried by the support with its axis substantially perpendicular to the axis of the support tube at the outward projecting end of the tube. The soft iron tube and the support tube are engaged in an opening of a support plate and embraced by a first elastic element engaged in the opening and elastically engaged with the soft iron tube. The construction includes a second elastic element engaged around a portion of the soft iron tube and the support tube at a location adjacent the open end of the soft iron tube and forms a damping body of a material of high internal friction.

Stylus for stereo pickups

A diaphragm for electrostatic and electrodynamic microphones which has a distinct directional pattern comprises a taut diaphragm having a thickness of less than 8 microns and a diameter of 10 millimeters at most and which is made of an elastically extensible rubber base material which has a natural frequency of 1,200 Hz to 1,500 Hz at most. A diaphragm is particularly for microphones of the cardioid, supercardioid and hypercardioid and figure eight type.

A coupling member for coupling a capacitive microphone capsule to a preamplifier housing to form a rod-shaped microphone assembly, comprises a shaped body made of vibration absorbing elastic electrically conducting material. A contact pin extends axially in the shaped body and has at least a portion made of vibration absorbing elastic electrically conductive material. The shaped body and contact pin form first and second electrical connections between the capacitive microphone and the preamplifier. In this way noise which is transmitted through the solid body of the amplifier does not reach the capacitive microphone to generate objectionable low-frequency sounds.

A mounting for an electroacoustic transducer particularly those having a cardioid directivity characteristic and which has one face with a sound opening and an opposite face comprises a cylindrical housing for the transducer with a first tapered elastic support permeable to sound being provided in the sound path from the sound opening the transducer to one end of the housing and which has a narrow end engaged with the housing and an opposite widened end engaging the transducer from one face side at the rim of the sound opening. A second tapered elastic support permeable to sound has one end engaging the transducer from the opposite face and has an opposite end engaged with the housing.

Elastic support for electroacoustic transducers

An electroacoustic two-way transducer assembly particularly for headphones and microphones comprises an electrostatic treble system having an electrostatic treble system disphragm and an electrodynamic system disposed under said electrostatic treble system. The electrodynamic system has an attachment portion with a flat front side forming a disc-shaped back plate for the electrostatic treble system diaphragm.

Electracoustic transducer

An electromagnetic transducer for converting mechanical or recorded acoustic events into alternating voltages particularly for tracing stereo signals recorded on plate shaped supports comprises a substantially cylindrical permanent magnet which is radially magnetized and disposed around four pole rods each of which has a coil winding therearound and whose axes are arranged substantially at corner points of a square in a plane perpendicular to the axes of the rods. A pickup stylus has a soft iron element which is driven by the stylus and which is disposed adjacent one end of the pole rods. The stylus is mounted for swinging movement about its center point, on the central axis of the transducer system. The soft iron element is directly included in the magnetic circuit at one end of the permanent magnet.
