An intraocular lens is provided. The intraocular lens includes an optical part and an adjoining haptic part. The optical part includes an optically imaging element and a telescope, the entire telescope being integrally formed and being integrated in the optical imaging element. The optically imaging element has a convexly-curved front side and a concavely-curved rear side. Further, the optically imaging element is arranged as a single lens system.

A multifocal lens has a number n&#x3e;2 of principal powers, of which at least one principal power is refractive and at least one principal power is diffractive. The multifocal lens includes a first lens portion having at least one first annular zone and at least a second lens portion having at least one second annular zone, wherein the zones each have at least one main sub-zone and at least one phase sub-zone. For forming the n principal powers, a maximum of n&#x2212;1 lens portions are combined, and an averaged refractive power of a zone of the first lens portion is equal to an averaged refractive power of a zone of the second lens portion.

Multifocal lens

The invention concerns an intraocular lens for the correction of astigmatic ametropia, which has both a torically refractive front face and a torically refractive rear face. The intraocular lens also has a torically refractive lens surface whose section curve in at least one principal meridian is described by an asphere. Finally the intraocular lens has a torically refractive lens surface with two principal meridians which include an intermediate angle that is not equal to 90&#xb0;.

Astigmatic intraocular lens

The invention concerns an intraocular lens with negative spherical aberration and a method of determining the refractive power of intraocular lenses. In the environment of immersion medium the intraocular lens refracts an incoming wave with an elliptically oblongly curved wave front into an outgoing wave with a substantially spherical wave front.

Intraocular lens

Circular and annular lens zones are disclosed which, at a given lens area, exhibit a depth of focus of a lens of considerably smaller area. The large depth of focus is achieved by imparting the lens zones a refractive power profile. An assembly of such large depth of focus lens zones represents a lens of large diameter which lens, in polychromatic light, exhibits essentially the same depth of focus as the lens zones from which it is composed.

Intra-ocular lens or contact lens exhibiting large depth of focus

A lens, particularly a contact lens, including surface structures on at least one of the lens surfaces. The surface structures improve lubrication conditions of the lens and increase lens comfort. Within the optical portion of the lens the surface structures comprise annular grooves of given depth and shape such that the optical performance of the lens is not adversely affected by these grooves. Appropriate surface structures on the non-optical portion may be formed in any shape and geometry.

A multifocal lens including annular zones wherein each annular zone is divided into at least two annular sub-zones. Preferably, no geometric or optical optical steps are present between annular zones or annular sub-zones. The refractive powers within the annular sub-zones are chosen such that the lens exhibits at least two diffractive powers and that at least one of those diffractive powers substantially coincides with the average refractive power of each annular zone.

Multifocal lens exhibiting diffractive and refractive powers

A multifocal diffractive lens includes at least two annular zone lenses. Provided between adjacent annular zone lenses is an optical step. Each annular zone lens exhibits a refractive power profile D.sub.g,i (r) wherein i is any i-th annular zone lens and r is the distance between an axis of the diffractive lens and a point on a back surface of the lens. The lens is further characterized in that an average power of zones i,j . . . are given by D.sub.av,i, D.sub.avj . . . respectively, and optical path lengths of light rays extending from an object point to a conjugated image point are different by the optical step for light rays transmitting through adjacent annular zone lenses. The annular zone lenses are shaped and positioned such that all of the average refractive powers D.sub.av,i, D.sub.avj . . . are substantially equal to a single value, D.sub.av.
