Disclosed is an improved diffuser assembly for use in ventilating, heating and air conditioning installations where it is necessary to conduct the air flow of a blower through air discharge fittings to air outlet nozzles such as those in the passenger compartment of an automobile. The air diffuser according to the present invention is of simple configuration, inexpensive to produce and requires only a small amount of space for installation. The diffuser has a cylindrical housing, with an intake fitting positioned on one frontal side and a plurality of air discharge orifices located successively with respect to each other along a circumferential surface of the cylindrical housing. Air discharge fittings are adapted to be attached to the discharge orifices. Coaxially positioned in the housing a rotating drum is provided. The drum is provided on its jacketing surface with openings whereby, depending on the angular position of the drum with respect to the housing, the orifices of the housing may be selectively opened or closed by the openings. Within the drum a coaxial radial blower wheel is provided.

Air diffuser assembly

Disclosed is a method for controlling the volume of a fluid, e.g., air, moving through a duct system, e.g., a ventilating system for a vehicle, comprising the steps of moving the fluid through an inlet of the duct system under dynamic pressure; conducting the fluid through the duct system by means of propulsion system driven by an electric motor, wherein the electric current drawn by said motor varies with changes in the dynamic pressure; and adjusting the amount of fluid admitted into the duct system in response to the current drawn by the motor and thus, also responsive to the dynamic pressure, this adjusting step thereby maintaining a constant volume of fluid moving through the air duct system. Also disclosed is an apparatus for carrying out this method.

Process and apparatus for the control of a volume of fluid moving

Air conditioning apparatus for conditioning the air supplied to a vehicle passenger space is provided which includes an air conditioning air cooling evaporator and an air heater unit arranged in series. An evaporator bypass duct extends in bypassing relationship to the evaporator and a heater bypass duct extends in bypassing relationship to the heater. To control the temperature of the air conditioned by the apparatus two temperature mixing air flaps are provided, one air flap controlling the proportion of air flow through the evaporator and its bypass duct and the other air flap controlling the proportion of air through the heater and its bypass duct.

Air-conditioning apparatus for motor vehicles

A temperature dependent electronic control switch, especially suited for an automatic temperature control in vehicles, including one or more NTC resistors as sensors in a bridge circuit, an amplifier, to amplify the signals from the sensors, a solenoid for producing a variable magnetic field from signals received by the amplifier, an iron strip, an air nozzle connected to a vacuum, a servomotor connected between the air nozzle and the vacuum, and a control flap. The iron strip, moving in response to the magnetic field from the solenoid, obstructs an opening in the air nozzle, thereby changing the pressure felt by the servomotor and thereby causing the control flap of an air-conditioner or heater to move in a predetermined manner to mix air of different temperatures.
