Apparatus, methods and computer programs are provided for reducing echo in microphone signals. The apparatus can be configured to obtain an echo path delay estimate and obtain information indicative of a number of future frames used by an acoustic echo cancellation filter. The apparatus can also be configured to obtain information indicative of a time shift between consecutive frames processed by the acoustic echo cancellation filter. The apparatus can also be configured to determine at least a first delay to be added to a loudspeaker signal and determine at least a second delay to be added to a microphone signal. The determination of the first delay and the second delay is based on the echo path delay estimate, the number of future frames and the time shift between consecutive frames processed by the acoustic echo cancellation filter.

A multi-line digital transceiver configured to use low-complexity beamforming on at least some tones to boost effective SNR values for selected subscriber lines. In an example embodiment, the beamforming coefficients can be restricted to one-bit values or two-bit values, e.g., such that the corresponding beamforming computations can be implemented using only sign changes, swaps of the real and imaginary parts, and/or zeroing of some values, and without invoking any full-precision hardware multiplication operations. At least some embodiments can be run on a significantly simpler and/or less powerful vectoring engine than conventional beamforming solutions while still being able to provide nearly optimal beamforming SNR gains. Transceivers and systems having digital distortion compensation and methods thereof

The present invention relates to a method for assigning transmission resources () to communications between an access node () and a plurality of subscriber devices (to) coupled to a shared transmission medium. In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the method comprises characterizing interference between respective ones of the plurality of subscriber devices over the shared transmission medium, grouping highly-interfering subscriber devices into respective interfering groups (GGGG) based on the so-characterized interference, and assigning disjoint transmission time intervals to upstream communication from any one subscriber device of any one interfering group and to downstream communication towards any other subscriber device of the same interfering group. The present invention also relates to a resource controller.

Full-duplex communication over a shared transmission medium

In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the method includes detecting a leaving event such that a communication path established between two peer transceivers coupled to the particular subscriber line is to be orderly discontinued. The method further includes, during a pre-disconnection phase following the detection of the leaving event, switching the two peer transceivers into respective OFF power states during first symbol positions and into respective ON power states during second remaining symbol positions, characterizing crosstalk within the vectoring group during the first symbol positions while the second symbol positions are used for regular data communication if any, and definitively switching the two peer transceivers into the respective OFF power states after the crosstalk characterization completes.
