In preparation of the piecing process in an open-end rotor spinning device, negative pressure is first applied in a housing containing the spinning rotor, and the rotor cover is brought from its operating position into a fiber evacuation position in which it is lifted off from the housing. Fiber feeding is then switched on. The fiber stream produced thereby, together with the air stream which conveys the fibers is deflected and is evacuated by means of the negative pressure prevailing in the housing over the open rotor edge from the interior of the rotor and from the housing, until the rotor cover is brought back into its operating position to convey fibers to the fiber collection groove. To carry out this process, a controllable opening device which is connected to the control device controlling the piecing process, and by means of which the rotor cover can be brought into a fiber evacuation position and into an operating position, and a seal ensuring tightness between the two parts of the fiber feeding channel in both positions of the rotor cover are assigned to the rotor cover.

Apparatus and method for effecting yarn piecing on an open-end rotor

In an open-end spinning device the spinning rotor can be replaced by a spinning rotor with a different diameter. Furthermore, the opener device is capable of being displaced in relation to the spinning rotor. The rotor cover can be adapted through replacement on the one hand to replacing the spinning rotor, and on the other hand to the then applicable position of the opener device.

Open-end spinning device

In open-end spinning, the fibers coming from an opener unit, upon leaving a fiber feeding channel (3), are conveyed to a fiber guiding surface (10) and then to a fiber collection groove (11) of a rotating spinning rotor (1) in which the fibers are deposited and are then spun into the end of a continuously withdrawn yarn. In this spinning process, the fibers coming out of the fiber feeding channel (3) are first compressed essentially in one plane and are at the same time spread out in the direction of rotation of the spinning rotor (1) to be then fed onto a portion of the circumference of the spinning rotor (1) in the form of a thin veil. To carry out this process, the wall of the last longitudinal segment (30) which is a continuation of the next-to-last longitudinal segment (31) of the fiber feeding channel (3) is made in the form of a fiber distribution surface (300)which extends substantially at a perpendicular to the plane passing through the center lines (310, 301) of the two above-mentioned longitudinal segments (31, 30). The last longitudinal segment (30) of the fiber feeding channel (3) may let out into a radial slit (6) which is provided with a surface (60) for the spreading out of fibers extending towards the fiber guiding surface (10) and which is across from the fiber distribution surface (300).

During the production of a yarn, and independently of fiber feeding into the spinning element, the air circling together with the opener roller during spinning is removed from the area of the housing which does not convey fibers by an auxiliary air stream which is so strong that it removes fibers and fiber fragments that have become detached from the opener roller and are circling with the opener roller. The auxiliary air stream removed from the housing is introduced into the spinning rotor in such manner that the fibers which are conveyed with it are deposited on the fiber collection surface. To remove the auxiliary air stream, an auxiliary channel is provided which is connected to the source of negative pressure independently of the fiber feeding channel and at the same time may let out into the spinning element.

The instant invention relates to a spinning process and to a device for the production of a yarn. In the spinning process the fibers are conveyed to a perforated collection surface which is subjected to suction in one zone. They are brought together into a fiber accumulation on the collection surface. The fiber accumulation is drawn off from the collection surface and twisted into a yarn of predetermined twist in a twisting element which follows the collection surface in the direction of yarn draw-off. The fibers are accumulated at a suction edge constituting a collection line and are pre-twisted at said collection line.

Spinning process and device for the production of a yarn

The present invention relates to a spinning process and device for the production of yarn. Fibers are conveyed through a feeding channel from an opening roller and deposited onto a perforated collection surface, such as a perforated roll or disk, which is subjected to suction in at least one zone. The fibers are oriented on the collection surface along a main sense of orientation of the perforations. The fibers are conveyed through the suction zone and formed into a fiber accumulation along a collection line. A suction insert is included generally beneath the perforated collection surface and defines the suction zone and collection line for the fibers. The fibers forming into a fiber accumulation along the collection line are pre-twisted along the collection line. A separate twisting element independent from the collection surface is provided downstream from the collection surface and provides a final pre-twist to yarn drawn off of the collection surface. The yarn is drawn through the twisting element by means of a conventional yarn draw-off device.

Process and device for piecing to an open-end friction spinning device

In an open-end spinning process, fibers are twisted together into a yarn, alongside a suction slit, in a spinning nip formed by two friction rollers, in close proximity of each other and driven in the same direction, and subsequently drawn off therefrom. The length of the suction orifice of the suction slit is varied, before beginning the spinning process, in accordance with the thickness of the yarn to be produced. The spinning process is then started after such adjustments are made. Practice of the invention improves quality of the yarn, and saves power consumption and other resources by reducing required air consumption.

Process and device for open-end friction spinning

In an open-end friction spinning process provisions are made for the fibers to be fed tangentially onto the surface of a hollow friction roller, at an angle to the longitudinal axis of said roller, whereby the fibers reach the spinning wedge in this position. In this manner, the fibers are arranged at a predetermined angle as they go from the fiber feeding channel to the spinning wedge and are brought into contact with the yarn end in this position which facilitates the joining process.

To improve integration of fibers into a yarn end and thereby improve yarn quality, fibers are directed to a feeding nip defined on an opposite side of a pair of friction rollers forming a spinning nip. The fibers are directed out of the feeding nip, passed between the friction rollers, and forwarded into the spinning nip. One of the friction rollers may constitute a conveying roller which exerts greater force upon the fibers than the other roller to securely convey fibers through a gap between the rollers and into the spinning nip.

Dual nip open-end friction spinning

An apparatus for aiding in piecing-up wrapped yarn on a yarn wrapping device which includes a hollow spindle upon which a bobbin of wrapping thread is carried. A pair of delivery rolls feeds a fiber bundle F through a fiber feed channel 8 provided in a pot carried on top of a housing which encloses the hollow spindle and bobbin. Holes 73 are provided in the downwardly extending projections of the pot so that in normal operation air flows through the housing and out of the holes 73. However, upon piecing-up of the yarn, the pot is depressed closing the holes 73 and 61 allowing the air flow to flow at its maximum through the feed channel out of a suction duct 9. This increased suction through suction duct 9 causes the fiber bundle F, the wrapping yarn B, and wrapped yarn G to be sucked thereinto for being pieced-up.
