The pump has a body including at least a fuel compression chamber and an actuating chamber enclosing the actuating members of the pump. The on-off valve has a shutter sliding inside a hole in the body to close a fuel feed conduit. The shutter is held in the closed position by a compression spring, which rests directly or indirectly on a shoulder in the hole. In one embodiment, the spring rests on the shoulder via a perforated disk held by a retaining ring, which clicks removably inside an annular groove in the hole. In a further embodiment, the spring rests directly on the shoulder.

The solenoid valve has a fuel supply conduit, and a ball shutter controlled by an electromagnet and cooperating with a conical seat in the conduit. The conduit has fuel filtration means having a cylindrical wall with a number of openings for preventing particles of dirt from infiltrating between the seat and the shutter, without producing an excessive fall in fuel pressure. The thickness of the cylindrical wall is less than 1 mm, and the width of the openings is less than 0.25 mm.

The solenoid valve has a fuel feed conduit, and a shutter in the form of a ball controlled by an electromagnet and cooperating with a conical seat in the conduit. The conduit has a fuel filter for preventing particles of dirt from getting between the seat and the shutter, without causing an excessive fall in fuel pressure. The filter is defined by a metal plate having a number of holes of about 0.1 mm in diameter and formed using laser technology; and the plate is fitted to the opposite end of the conduit from the seat.

A fuel injection nozzle for internal combustion engines having an inwardly opening valve needle is proposed, this valve needle has a channel comprising two parts, the first of which located in the upstream direction, has a smaller measurement in cross section in one dimension than the diameter of the communicating or downstream part which has the exact injection diameter. As a result, the entry of shavings into the downstream part and the consequent alteration in injection are avoided.

A testing arrangement for testing injection nozzles in a nozzle holder combination, has a first testing circuit provided with a first pump for a hydraulic pressure medium and arranged for testing nozzles as to the throughflow, and a second circuit provided with a second pump for the hydraulic pressure medium and arranged for testing the nozzles as to the opening pressure, buzzing condition, tightness of nozzle holder combination and if necessary seat tightness and needle play of a nozzle, wherein the circuits are arranged so as to perform testing during operation of the nozzles.

Testing arrangements for multi-testing injection nozzles

An apparatus for controlling the composition of the operational mixture in internal combustion engines. Air quantity is controlled to correspond to an arbitrarily settable fuel quantity, by creating a set-point fuel quantity signal from an actual value air quantity signal, via a performance graph, the fuel signal taking the form of a correspondingly set metering cross section in a fuel supply line. A differential pressure valve, connected across the metering cross section, creates a hydraulic control pressure for actuating an air throttle valve in accordance with the deviation of the pressure drop across the metering cross section from a set-point value which is kept constant. During overrunning, the pressure drop becomes zero and the throttle valve is fully opened by hydraulic control pressure supplied through a pressure-actuated valve which opens when the pressure downstream of the metering cross section rises to a value indicating an overrunning condition.

Apparatus and method for controlling the composition of the operational

A device for exhaust gas recycling is proposed which controls the amount of recycled exhaust gas in an internal combustion engine equipped with an injection unit so that a certain air factor is attained. The device comprises a closing element for the exhaust gas return conduit, which latter terminates into the intake manifold, this closing element being suitably constituted by a throttle valve and being directly connected to the adjusting lever or control rod of the injection pump. If this connection is established via a resilient linkage between the adjusting lever and the exhaust gas return valve, then the thus-recycled amount of exhaust gas can be dimensioned so that a specific quantity of recycled exhaust gas is associated with a specific angular position of the adjusting lever.

What follows is a description of various exemplary embodiments of a fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine with exhaust gas recycling controlled by a throttle valve situated in the suction tube of the system. The throttle valve is in turn controlled by a servomotor having a displaceable piston connected to the throttle valve. The piston is displaceable against a variable restoring force exerted against it and produces displacements of the throttle valve between two positions, one corresponding to a fully opened position of the throttle valve and closed exhaust gas recycling line, and the other corresponding to a substantially closed throttle valve.
