A flame resistant molding composition containing a polycarbonate resin, a graft polymer and, as a flame retarding agent a phosphoric acid ester of novolak in combination with an anti drip agent is disclosed. The composition may further contain a thermoplastic copolymer and/or polyalkylene terephthalate. A process for the preparation of the composition is also disclosed.

The invention relates to thermoplastic molding compounds containing thermoplastic aromatic polycarbonates, thermoplastic copolymers, optionally graft polymers and/or tetrafluoroethylene polymers and/or silicone resins, characterized in that they contain phosphorus compounds corresponding to formula (I) ##STR1## in which R is a --CH.sub.2 --, ##STR2## group and the aromatic radicals may even be alkyl-substituted.

The invention relates to thermoplastic polycarbonate molding compounds containing polycarbonates, copolymers, phosphorus compounds, tetrafluoroethylene polymers and, optionally, graft polymers and also further additives and other thermoplastics and also stabilizers, pigments, flow aids, mold release agents, antistatic agents and/or other flameproffing agents, characterized in that they contain as phosphorus compounds those corresponding to formula (I) ##STR1## and to a process for the production of the polycarbonate molding compounds.
