An A.C. overload current sensing, remote power controller of minimum size and weight and integral construction. Current rate sensing wound toroids are used that are small enough to fit around the line terminal studs without having to enlarge the prior insulator space available therein. The electronic overload current detecting and tripping control circuit is replaced by a pair of modules, detector and control modules, having improved performance and a shape and size such that they fit within the relay housing alongside its operating magnet. The detector module has integrator means for converting current rate of change signals into current magnitude indicative signals thereby enabling use therewith of rate sensing wound toroids of about one-tenth the size of equivalent current transformer wound toroids. It fully meets the calibrated step function overload trip time requirements while also providing protection for unusual overload conditions such as varying overloads including pulse accumulation effects or repetitive reset, and simulates the response of a thermal element to prevent excess heating of the wire or load that it is protecting under any overload conditions. Moreover, one version of the control module incorporates a single standard CMOS IC logic element that provides a digital solution to the combinations of control conditions requirements while at the same time reducing the number of conventionally-required cutthroat contacts from two to one and isolating the control input from the relay power circuit. Another version provides reset lockout.

RFI (radio frequency interference) is eliminated by the placing of a conductive elastomer coating over the toggle lever seal so as to electrically connect the toggle lever to the switch metal frame or housing that is grounded through the mounting panel.

A snap-action overcenter contact mechanism utilizes a spring-loaded apexed plunger depressibly cammed within a rockable actuator block. The plunger rides in tracks in the block which ensure registered pivotal movement of the block and plunger, and also guides the plunger for depression within the block perpendicular to the pivotal axis thereof. A cam, which may be in the form of a roller mounted to a linearly sliding operator or a toggle lever operator, traverses the plunger to depress the plunger within the block against the bias of compression springs. When the cam translationally crosses the apex of the plunger, the stored energy of the springs is released, and the plunger and block pivot to an alternate position. A positive off feature is also disclosed wherein secondary cams formed on the operator strike the block to force it to pivot to an off position if the first cam has crossed the apex of the plunger and the block has not pivoted to the off position.

An extremely small time-setting switch adapted for mounting in a hole in the case of an electronic watch and having a coin slot whereby it may be rotated to any one of a plurality of operating positions including a 'run' position, a 'stop' position, a 'minutes change' position, and an 'hours change' position. The switch is provided with a generally annular detent structure affording clearance at its middle for the movable contact and affording a better feel including an audible click when rotated into each of its several operating positions and the stationary parts of the switch are locked to one another to prevent movement when the rotary knob is turned in a structure affording an extremely thin, flat package adapted to be staked into the watch case.
