A method for controlling a separating clutch in a power train of a vehicle having a drive motor and a retarder. The clutch is arranged such that a rotor of the retarder is switched into a drive connection with the motor and/or power train via the clutch and a working chamber of the retarder can be filled with an operating medium to build up a braking power such that braking torque is exerted by the retarder onto the power train and/or motor. A control system switches the clutch into a closed or an open position. The switching of the clutch into the closed position occurs depending on an input signal to the controller, and the clutch is switched back into the open position depending on essentially no medium being present in the working chamber of the retarder and that predetermined limits of an operating and/or environmental parameter are not exceeded.

A method for controlling a hydrodynamic retarder in a motor vehicle that can be mechanically disengaged via a disconnect clutch, whereby at least one of the rotational speed of a revolving bladed rotor and the speed of a motor vehicle is monitored and a disconnect clutch is engaged below at least one of a pre-specified rotational speed of the revolving bladed rotor and a pre-specified speed of the motor vehicle, regardless of a request made by a driver assist system or by operation of an input device by the operator of the motor vehicle to turn on the hydrodynamic retarder.

A cooling circuit for a motor vehicle having a cooling medium pump that circulates a cooling medium in the cooling circuit having a hydrodynamic retarder. The cooling circuit further includes a main circuit in which the cooling medium pump and a drive motor of the motor vehicle, as well as a heat exchanger are positioned. A secondary branch of the cooling circuit includes a feed that branches off from the main circuit at a branch-off point and ends in the hydrodynamic retarder, and a return which proceeds from the hydrodynamic retarder and ends at a junction location in the main circuit. The return ends upstream of the branch-off location of the feed as viewed in a flow direction of the cooling medium in the main circuit, however on the same side of the cooling medium pump or at the branch-off location of the feed in the main circuit.

Cooling circuit for a motor vehicle having a hydrodynamic retarder

A vehicle cooling circuit, especially an engine cooling circuit, including a cooling medium pump and a vehicle drive engine and/or other heat-generating assembly cooled by means of the cooling medium. Vehicle cooling circuit having a retarder or a hydrodynamic clutch

A method for control of a pressurized air supply system for a motor vehicle. In a supply condition, the air compressor is driven by the drive motor and connected to a compressed air system of the motor vehicle such that compressed air is supplied to the compressed air system. In a non-supply condition, the compressor is not driven and/or connected to the compressed air system. The switching of the supply or non-supply condition results from a comparison of at least one switch pressure value with a pressure in the compressed air system and the topography of the stretch of road on which the vehicle is travelling, which includes the profile of the path which the vehicle must cover within a period of time and/or path distance to a given destination.

Method for control of a pressurised air supply system for a motor vehicle

The present invention relates to a hydrodynamic machine, especially a hydrodynamic retarder, including a bladed primary wheel and a bladed secondary wheel which are arranged opposite of each other axially with respect to their blade configurations such that they jointly form a working chamber. The working chamber can be filled with a working medium for one operating state in order to transmit torque from the primary wheel to the secondary wheel by means of a circulatory flow of the working medium. The working chamber can be emptied of the working medium for a non-operating state in order to prevent a transmission of torque from the primary wheel to the secondary wheel. A suction apparatus is connected with a fluidic connection to the working chamber in order to suck off working medium and/or air from the working chamber for forming a negative pressure in the working chamber in the non-operating state.

The invention relates to a transmission module, especially a transmission module in countershaft design, having at least one input and one output which are connected with each other by way of at least one speed-torque converter device, with a reverse gear which is arranged between a countershaft and the transmission output, with a hydrodynamic retarder. The hydrodynamic retarder having at least one rotor blade wheel and a stator. The rotor blade wheel is connected via a high gear with the transmission output. The high gear is a component of the reverse gear.

Transmission module

A retarder with retarder housing for receiving a retarder unit comprising a stator and a rotor fitted on the retarder shaft. The retarder is intended for assembly in a transmission housing. The retarder housing features a cup-shaped recess matching in its design the outer contours of rotor and stator, (a preassembled retarder unit) thus being able to receive the retarder unit in an assembled state.

Retarder

A braking system, particularly for use in a motor vehicle includes a hydrodynamic retarder having a stator blade wheel and a rotor blade wheel. A line system through which flows a working fluid of the retarder includes the retarder as well as a cooler. The retarder further includes an inlet throttle and/or an outlet throttle. Measures are taken to keep the braking momentum of the retarder below the full value during the turning on of the retarder.

Braking system with a hydrodynamic retarder

A drive unit for a motor vehicle having an engine; a transmission featuring a transmission housing; and a retarder featuring a rotor and a stator. A retarder shaft is provided that is supported by two bearings which are offset along the axial length of the retarder shaft. At least one of the bearings ('outside bearing') is supported by a wall ('outside wall') of the transmission housing. The retarder shaft protrudes freely beyond the outside wall of the transmission housing. Disposed on the retarder shaft, outside the outer bearing, on the outside wall, is a sealing component. The sealing component seals the clearance between the retarder (or pinion) shaft and the outside wall, preventing passage therethrough of the transmission oil and the operating medium of the retarder.

Drive unit with a hydrodynamic retarder and transmission

A drive unit for a vehicle which includes an engine, transmission and hydrodynamic retarder having a rotor and a stator. A retarder shaft is rotatably supported by two bearings and extends through the housing of the transmission. A sealing element provides a seal between the retarder shaft and the transmission housing for separating the operating medium of the hydrodynamic retarder from either the transmission lubricant or the lubricant for one of the two shaft bearings.

The invention relates to a drive unit for a motor vehicle having a hydrodynamic retarder and a drive train with an engine and a transmission. The hydrodynamic retarder is comprised of a rotor impeller wheel and a stator impeller wheel and is coordinated with the main drive train in a manner such that the rotor impeller wheel of the hydrodynamic retarder is driven by the drive train. The operating fluid of the hydrodynamic retarder is a medium used for cooling the vehicle and a clutch is arranged between the drive train and the hydrodynamic retarder.

Drive unit

The present invention is a drive system for a boat propeller, with a motor and a reverse gearbox. For forward travel a hydrodynamic coupling is provided and for reverse travel a hydrodynamic reverse converter is provided. The coupling is operated with its maximum filling degree in the upper range of the propeller speed, but in the lower range of propeller speed with a partial filling. Thus, the hydrodynamic coupling is the single hydrodynamic power transfer unit for the entire forward speed range. In order for the boat to be able to be quickly braked down from full speed, the reverse converter is arranged to provide a high torque conversion in the reactive braking range.
