A digital-to-analog converter may include a converting unit and a distributing unit. The converting unit may generate a first analog signal set based on less-than-all bits of an image data set in a first period and may generate a second analog signal set based on all bits of the image data set in a second period. The all bits may include at least 2 bits. The distributing unit may include output terminals, may distribute the first analog signal set to the output terminals in a first sequence in the first period, and may distribute the second analog signal to the output terminals in a second sequence. The second sequence may be opposite to the first sequence.

Digital-to-analog converter, driving integrated circuit, and display device

An image display system is provided. The image display system includes a host, and a touch controller configured to generate touch event information corresponding to a touch signal and supply the touch event information to an accelerator, wherein the touch signal is output from a touch panel. The accelerator is configured to generate, based on the touch event information supplied from the touch controller, output image data corresponding to a touch event. The image display system further includes a display controller configured to supply the output image data generated by the accelerator to a display panel.

According to an embodiment, the display device includes a touch controller, an image processor, and a display driver. The touch controller is configured to output touch event information corresponding to a touch signal received from a touch panel. The image processor is configured to determine whether a host is in a sleep mode or a normal mode, and to output mixed image data obtained by overlapping an image displayed on a display panel and a marker corresponding to the touch event information while a host is in the sleep mode. The display driver is configured to output pixel driving signals corresponding to the mixed image data to the display panel. The touch controller or image processor is further configured to determine whether a touch input of a user to the touch panel meets a predetermined condition, and if the predetermined condition is met, output a wake-up signal to the host.

A protection circuit includes: a temperature measuring unit which compares a voltage corresponding to a temperature at each of a plurality of sense points with a reference voltage, and generates a measurement result based on a result of comparison; a controller which generates a plurality of current control signals, which controls currents of a plurality of channels corresponding to the plurality of sense points, respectively, based on the measurement result from the temperature measuring unit; and a plurality of phase converter which outputs the currents of the plurality of channels based on the plurality of current control signals, wherein the controller generates the plurality of current control signals until the voltage corresponding to the temperature of each of the plurality of sense points is substantially equal to the reference voltage.

Display device and control method thereof

A display unit including pixels which display an image according to an image data signal transferred corresponding to each of the pixels, and a controller to receive and convert an external input video signal to transfer a luminance conversion data signal corresponding to the respective pixels. The controller includes: an input image data to receive the external input video signal; a scale factor calculation unit to determine at least one control factor for luminance conversion with respect to an input video signal corresponding to the pixels received from the input image data receiving unit; and a luminance data conversion unit to convert luminance data with respect to the respective pixels using the at least one determined control factor and to output the luminance conversion data signal.

A method of driving a display device includes: sub-sampling an original image signal; generating a sub-image signal; generating a sub-interpolated image signal from the sub-image signal; generating an interpolated frame by realigning the sub-interpolated image signal; and displaying an image having the interpolated frame.

An image display device employs an interface protocol wherein integrated image plus control data is transmitted from a signal controller circuit to each of a plurality of master data driving circuits. The integrated image plus control data includes display control data as well as image-defining data. The signal controller circuit determines which of a plurality of data driving circuits is to function as a master data driving chip and which as a slave data driving chip. The signal controller circuit directly transmits respective integrated image plus control data signals to corresponding ones of the master data driving chips. Each master data driving chip then forwards part of the received integrated image plus control signal to its corresponding slave data driving chip.

A method of driving a light source including a light-emitting block includes generating a luminance representative value based on an average grayscale value and a maximum grayscale value extracted from an image signal corresponding to the light-emitting block. The method further includes detecting a predetermined pattern of the light-emitting block, generating a compensation control signal based on the predetermined pattern, generating a compensated luminance representative value by compensating the luminance representative value based on the compensation control signal, and driving the light-emitting block based on the luminance level of the light-emitting block corresponding to the compensated luminance representative value.

A method of driving a display device includes sub-sampling an original image signal. The method further includes generating a sub-image signal, generating a sub-interpolated image signal from the sub-image signal, and generating an interpolated frame by realigning the sub-interpolated image signal. An image having the interpolated frame is then displayed.

A method is for correcting pixel data provided to a display apparatus. The display apparatus includes a display panel having a plurality of pixels and a light source module having a plurality of light-emitting blocks. The method includes determining a pixel luminance that is a luminance of light provided to one of the pixels; and generating correction data to correct the pixel data, the correction data being generated based on the pixel luminance and a maximum emission luminance that is a maximum luminance of the light emitted from one of the light-emitting blocks.

A method for driving a display apparatus, according to one or more embodiments of the present invention, provides a luminance representative value of a unit light-emitting block that may be determined from an external image signal of a plurality of image blocks corresponding to the unit light-emitting block including a plurality of light sources. A luminance compensation value of the unit light-emitting block may be calculated by compensating the luminance representative value. Pixel data of the external image signal in a central area of the unit light-emitting block and a boundary area may be corrected based on the luminance compensation value. A driving signal may be provided to the unit light-emitting block based on the luminance compensation value. Accordingly, a phenomenon in which a boundary of the unit light-emitting block is visible is removed so that the display quality of all image may be enhanced.

Method of driving a display apparatus to compensate for uneven backlighting

A display device includes; a signal controller which outputs a master image signal having first data information and second data information, a master data driver which samples the first data information and the second data information from the master image signal using a first sampling clock signal, generates a slave clock signal using the master image signal, and generates a slave image signal, which corresponds to the second data information, using the slave clock signal, and a slave data driver connected to the master data driver in a cascade manner, wherein the slave data driver samples the second data information from the slave image signal.

In a method of modulating/demodulating a signal, a transmission signal is generated from an input data signal including data information by combining a plurality of input shift clock signals, which are modulated based on input clock signal during an interval period of the input clock signal, during 2 interval periods of the input clock signal. An output clock signal is detected and an output clock signal is generated from the transmission signal by combining a plurality of output shift clock signals, demodulated based on the output clock signal during an interval period of the output clock, during 2 interval periods of the output clock signal, to restore the data information.

A method of modulating and demodulating a signal includes modulating data information included in an input data signal provided from an external source and clock information included in an input clock signal provided from the external source into a transmission signal, using (n+1) delay clock signals generated based on the input clock signal, where n is a natural number. The transmission signal is demodulated into an output clock signal including restored clock information and an output data signal including restored data information, using (m+1) delay clock signals generated based on the clock information, where m is a natural number less than n.
