In accordance with a first aspect of the invention, the exterior trim part for a vehicle comprises a fibrous porous structural layer. The exterior trim part further comprises at least one at least sectional perforated film layer, which is made of thermoplastic polyurethane with a melting temperature according to DSC of at least 140&#xb0; C. The film layer is materially connected to the fibrous porous structural layer, at least in sections.

Exterior trim part

An exterior trim part for a vehicle comprises a fibrous porous structural layer. The fibrous porous structural layer consists of staple fibers, only. At least 50%, preferably between 70% and 100%, of the staple fibers comprise a first polymer made of modified polyester, such as CoPET, with a melting temperature between 150&#xb0; C. and 240&#xb0; C., preferably between 190&#xb0; C. and 240&#xb0; C.

Alternative exterior trim part

A pressurized steam molded multilayer lining for heat and sound insulation comprising a first layer forming a reinforcement layer made of a blended web of polyamide matrix material in the form of powder or fibers or flakes and reinforcement fibers, and at least a second layer chosen from an open cell foam layer, or a heat reflecting layer, or a second reinforcement layer made of a blended web of polyamide matrix material in the form of powder or fibers or flakes and reinforcement fibers, and whereby due to the pressurized steam molding, all layers are laminated together and all available blended webs are consolidated to form porous reinforcement layers.

Moulded multilayer lining for heat and sound insulation

Production method for a multilayer lining for thermal and sound insulation with the steps of blending reinforcement fibers and polyamide matrix material, in the form of fibers, flakes or powder, and forming a web of said blend; layering said blended web and at least an additional layer chosen from an open cell foam layer, a heat reflective layer, or another of said blended web inside a mold; treating the stacked multilayer material with pressurized saturated steam, such that the polyamide matrix material in the blended web is melting at a temperature under steam pressure that is lower than the melting temperature of the polyamide matrix according to DSC, thereby binding the reinforcement fibers together thus consolidating the blended web forming a porous reinforcement layer, and all layers of the multilayer are laminated together.
