The present application discloses a method and an apparatus for obtaining structured information in a fixed layout document to improve the structuring speed for information management of a fixed layout document. The method may comprise: determining initial page number information corresponding to current directory entry of the document; segmenting first article content of a page corresponding to the initial page number information into at least one structured-characters-block; searching in each structured-characters-block for a first structured-characters-block which matches with name strings of the current directory entry, and obtaining first position information about where the first structured-characters-block is located in the first article content; and obtaining initial position information of the current directory entry and end position information of the previous directory entry based on the first position information.

Methods and apparatus for obtaining structured information in fixed layout documents

A method for extracting a document structure is disclosed. The method may include determining a position of reference information in a layout file, and extracting items related to the reference information from the determined position of the layout file. An apparatus for extracting a document structure is also disclosed. The apparatus may include a processor configured to determine a position of reference information in a layout file; and to extract items related to the reference information from the determined position of the layout file. The apparatus may further include a storage device configured to store the extracted items.

Methods and devices for extracting document structure

A method for identifying a table in a digital file includes extracting lines from a layout of the digital file, wherein the lines comprise horizontal lines and vertical lines. The method also includes identifying intersected line groups, wherein each intersected line group comprises a horizontal line of the extracted horizontal lines and a vertical line of the extracted vertical lines, the horizontal line and the vertical line intersecting with each other. The method further includes determining whether the number of intersected lines in each intersected line group is larger than a first threshold. If yes, the method further includes identifying an area in which the intersected line groups are located as a table area. If no, the method further includes performing vertical projection on characters in the area, and identifying the area as a table area based on results of the vertical projection.
