Methods and fracturing fluids for fracturing a subterranean formation using in situ proppant particulates. Methods include introducing a fracturing fluid into a subterranean formation at or above a fracture gradient. The fracturing fluid includes a non-phase-transition fluid comprising at least an aqueous fluid and a surfactant; and a phase-transition fluid comprising a phase-change material selected from the group consisting of styrene monomers, methyl methacrylate monomers, or a combination of styrene monomers and methyl methacrylate monomers, an initiator, and an optional accelerator.

In situ polymer proppant particulates and methods for use thereof

The disclosure relates to compositions that include a substrate having attached thereto functional molecules capable of interacting with ions, and related methods. Examples of the substrate include graphene, boron nitride and a graphene-boron nitride hybrid. The compositions can reduce (e.g., prevent) scale formation and/or dissolve scale formations in oil and gas production, transportation, storage, and processing systems, such as scales caused by calcium, barium and/or strontium ions.

Compositions including a substrate and a functional molecule and related methods

In accordance with one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, a low-density treatment fluid includes a base water-control system and at least one light-weight filler material. The base water-control system may include an inorganic material system comprising an aqueous colloidal silica and a water-soluble chemical activator for gelling the colloidal silica, or the base water-control system may include an organic material system comprising of polymeric material. The low-density treatment fluid may have a density of from 0.1 g/cmto 0.75 g/cm. Also described are methods of recovering a target fluid from a subterranean cavity using such a low-density treatment fluid.

Low-density treatment fluid and methods for treating thief zones located above pay zones

Hydraulic fracturing fluids include an aqueous fluid, an acrylamide-based polymer, and a crosslinker that crosslinks the acrylamide-based polymer to form a crosslinked gel. The crosslinker includes a cellulose backbone functionalized with branch structures. The branch structures comprise oxiranylalkanol branches or polyoxiranylalkanol branches. Methods for preparing the hydraulic fracturing fluids and methods for treating subterranean formations with the hydraulic fracturing fluids are disclosed.

Branched cellulose-based hydraulic fracturing fluid crosslinker

This disclosure relates to acidizing retarder compositions and methods of reducing the rate of carbonate dissolution in carbonate acidizing treatments of carbonate formations using the acidizing retarder compositions. The methods may include dissolving one or more retarder compounds in a solution comprising a strong acid to form acidizing retarder compositions, and introducing the acidizing retarder compositions to carbonate formations. The acidizing retarder compositions may include one or more retarder compounds and a strong acid. At least one of the one or more retarder compounds may be a poloxamer. A concentration of the strong acid in the acidizing retarder composition may be 5 weight percent or greater.

Acidizing retarder compositions and methods of reducing a rate of carbonate dissolution using the same

Coated proppants include a proppant particle, a surface copolymer layer surrounding the proppant particle, and a resin layer surrounding the surface copolymer layer. The surface copolymer layer includes a copolymer of at least two monomers chosen from styrene, methyl methacrylate, ethylene, propylene, butylene, imides, urethanes, sulfones, carbonates, and acrylamides, where the copolymer is crosslinked by divinyl benzene. The resin layer includes a cured resin. Methods of preparing the coated proppants include preparing a first mixture including at least one polymerizable material, an initiator, and a crosslinker including divinyl benzene; contacting the first mixture to a proppant particle to form a polymerization mixture; heating the polymerization mixture to cure the polymerizable material and form a polymer-coated particulate; preparing a second mixture including the polymer-coated substrate, an uncured resin, and a solvent; and adding a curing agent to the second mixture to cure the uncured resin and form the coated proppant.

Coated proppants and methods of making and use thereof

A coated proppant having a proppant particle, an intermediate cross-linked terpolymer layer encapsulating the proppant particle, and an outer resin layer encapsulating the intermediate cross-linked terpolymer layer. The proppant particle is selected from sand, ceramic, glass, and combinations thereof. The intermediate cross-linked terpolymer layer includes styrene, methyl methacrylate, and divinyl benzene. The outer resin layer includes a cured epoxy resin formed from an epoxy resin and a curing agent.

Proppant coatings and methods of making

Hydraulic fracturing fluids include an aqueous fluid, an acrylamide-based polymers, and a hyperbranched crosslinker that crosslinks the acrylamide-based polymer to form a crosslinked gel. The hyperbranched crosslinker includes a hyperbranched polyethyleneimine polyoxiranylalkanol having a weight-average molecular weight from 10 kDa to 1500 kDa. The hyperbranched crosslinker may be a product of reacting a hyperbranched polyethyleneimine with an oxiranylalkanol to obtain the hyperbranched polyethyleneimine polyoxiranylalkanol. In examples, the oxiranylalkanol is glycidol. Methods for preparing the hydraulic fracturing fluids and methods for treating subterranean formations with the hydraulic fracturing fluids are disclosed.

Hyperbranched polymer-based hydraulic fracturing fluid crosslinker

Methods of preparing a crosslinked hydraulic fracturing fluid include combining a hydraulic fracturing fluid comprising a polyacrylamide polymer with a plurality of coated proppants. The plurality of coated proppants include a proppant particle and a resin proppant coating on the proppant particle. The resin proppant coating includes resin and a zirconium oxide crosslinker. The resin includes at least one of phenol, furan, epoxy, urethane, phenol-formaldehyde, polyester, vinyl ester, and urea aldehyde. Methods further include allowing the zirconium oxide crosslinker within the resin proppant coating to crosslink the polyacrylamide polymer within the hydraulic fracturing fluid at a pH of at least 10, thereby forming the crosslinked hydraulic fracturing fluid.

Methods of making hydraulic fracturing fluids and use thereof

According to embodiments disclosed herein, a gel fluid composite may include a nanosilica gel and a plurality of quantum dot tracers. The nanosilica gel may be configured to seal one or more downhole fractures in a wellbore. The plurality of quantum dot tracers may be dispersed in the nanosilica gel. The plurality of quantum dot tracers may each include a semiconductor particle core housed in a silica shell.

Gel fluid composites comprising nanosilica and quantum dots for sealing water production in a wellbore

A silicon oxide Janus nanosheets relatively permeability modifier (RPM) for carbonate and sandstone formations. The silicon oxide Janus nanosheets RPM may be used to treat a water and hydrocarbon producing carbonate or sandstone formation to reduce water permeability in the formation and increase the production of hydrocarbons. The silicon oxide Janus nanosheets RPM for carbonate formations includes a first side having negatively charged functional groups and a second side having alkyl groups. The silicon oxide Janus nanosheets RPM for sandstone formations includes a first side having positively charged functional groups and a second side having alkyl groups. The negatively charged functional groups may include a negatively charged oxygen group groups and hydroxyl groups. The positively charged functional groups may include amino groups and an amine. Methods of reducing water permeability using the silicon oxide Janus nanosheets RPM and methods of manufacturing the silicon oxide Janus nanosheets RPM are also provided.

Silicon dioxide Janus nanosheets relative permeability modifier (RPM) for reducing subterranean formation water permeability in carbonate and sandstone formations

According to embodiments disclosed herein, a method of monitoring a gel fluid composite may include directing the gel fluid composite into a wellbore extending into a subsurface where the wellbore has one or more downhole fractures so that the gel fluid composite enters the one or more downhole fractures, transforming the gel fluid composite from an aqueous phase to a gel phase, irradiating light onto the gel fluid composite so that the fluorescent compounds emit one or more photons, and detecting the one or more photons using a detection device. The gel fluid composite may include a nanosilica gel that includes silica nanoparticles and an activator, wherein the silica nanoparticles have a maximum cross-sectional dimension of from 3 nm to 100 nm, and one or more fluorescent compounds, wherein the one or more fluorescent compounds are dispersed in the nanosilica gel, bonded to the silica nanoparticles, or both.
