A storage system includes a controller and block-based storage device(s) that include LSA blocks arranged as a log structured array (LSA). The controller creates a first and second LUN, each including LBA locations. The controller assigns the first LUN to a first host and the second LUN to a second host, accumulates first host data associated with a first LBA location of the first LUN, writes a block-size worth of such data to a first LSA block, and maps the first LBA location to the first LSA block. In response to receiving an ODX Copy Offload instruction, the controller determines the first host data should be migrated to a target LBA location in the second LUN, determines the first and second LUN are exclusively mappable to the same LSA, maps the target LBA location to the first LSA block, and unmaps the first LBA location from the first LSA block.

Log structured array offloaded data transfer migrations

A computer implemented method comprises detecting a failure of a primary volume at a first location, the primary volume having data stored on a first plurality of media according to a first heat map; in response to detecting the failure of the primary volume, overwriting a second heat map of a secondary volume at a second location with a copy of the first heat map, the secondary volume having data stored on a second plurality of media according to the second heat map; migrating extents of data on the second plurality of media at the second location according to the copy of the first heat map prior to a next heat map cycle update after detection of the failure; and processing data access requests from the secondary location using the extents of data on the secondary plurality of media migrated according to the copy of the first heat map.

Site recovery solution in a multi-tier storage environment

Tacit knowledge associated with software development problems may be shared by providing a framework configured to pre-process raw service data of a software product for identification of data elements. Pre-processing operations may be applied to the raw service data to extract data elements. An identified operating problem in the service data may be efficiently analyzed by referring to a repository of stored records that include previously performed user actions when facing the identified operating problem.
