A tool for providing a visualization of a system may reveal an interactive navigation environment for building performance observation and assessment. The tool may be associated with a processor. The environment may incorporate a treemap, a graph pane, a treemap filter, a graph pane selector, a selected units box and a date/time control mechanism. A visualization of the environment, among other things, may be presented on a display. The treemap may exhibit a building geometry and/or equipment units hierarchically, along with some data information. Units may be interactively selected from the treemap and placed in the box for analysis. The graph pane may show a configuration and display of unit analysis. Selection of detailed views for units in the box may be provided by the graph pane selector. Date and time intervals for analysis may be selected by the control mechanism.

Interactive navigation environment for building performance visualization

A system that allows a contractor to remotely monitor and/or interact with its customers' building control systems, such as heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and analyze information obtained from the building control systems over time. Such a system may help the contractor monitor and diagnosis customer building control systems, setup service calls, achieve better customer relations, create more effective marketing opportunities, as well as other functions. In some cases, the disclosed system may include a controller that analyzes data from HVAC systems, determines a thermal model of a space environmentally controlled by an HVAC system, and provides an energy audit of the space that is environmentally controlled by the HVAC system. The controller may output a result of the energy audit to a user.

Remote contractor system with site specific energy audit capability

A method includes processing data associated with operation of equipment in an industrial process to repeatedly (i) identify one or more models that mathematically represent the operation of the equipment using training data and (ii) generate first indicators potentially identifying at least one specified condition of the equipment using evaluation data and the one or more models. The method also includes classifying the first indicators into multiple classes. The multiple classes include true positive indicators and false positive indicators. The true positive indicators identify that the equipment is suffering from the at least one specified condition. The false positive indicators identify that the equipment is not suffering from the at least one specified condition. The method further includes generating a notification indicating that the equipment is suffering from the at least one specified condition in response to one or more first indicators being classified into the class of true positive indicators.

Apparatus and method for two-stage detection of furnace flooding or other conditions

An approach and system for receiving data from a thermostat in a building, treating the data as representative of a thermal response model or system, and determining a relationship between a rate of building internal temperature change and change in outdoor temperature to provide an indication of how well a building is insulated versus a thermal mass of the building.

A method includes obtaining data associated with operation of equipment in an industrial process and identifying training data and evaluation data in the obtained data. The method also includes, during each of multiple training periods, identifying one or more models and one or more first statistical values using at least some of the training data and determining a threshold value using the one or more first statistical values. The one or more models represent the operation of the equipment. The method further includes, during each of multiple evaluation periods, determining one or more second statistical values using at least some of the evaluation data and the one or more models, comparing the one or more second statistical values to the threshold value determined in a preceding one of the training periods, and determining whether the equipment is suffering from at least one specified condition based on the comparison. In addition, the method includes, in response to determining that the equipment is suffering from the at least one specified condition, generating an alert identifying the at least one specified condition.

Apparatus and method for using model training and adaptation to detect furnace flooding or other conditions

Systems and methods for managing a programmable thermostat are described herein. One or more system embodiments include a programmable thermostat having a first management profile; a data acquisition subsystem; and a data analysis subsystem. The data acquisition subsystem is configured to receive thermostat data from the programmable thermostat, and the data analysis subsystem is configured to receive the thermostat data from the data acquisition subsystem, and determine a second management profile for the programmable thermostat based, at least in part, on the thermostat data.

Systems and methods for managing a programmable thermostat

A method includes identifying a first steady-state gain associated with a relationship between a characteristic of a furnace and a setpoint used by a controller that is configured to control the characteristic of the furnace, The first steady-state gain is identified using data collected when the furnace is not suffering from flooding. The method also includes identifying a second steady-state gain associated with the relationship during operation of the furnace. The method further includes comparing the first and second steady-state gains and identifying actual or potential flooding of the furnace based on the comparison.

Apparatus and method for detecting furnace flooding

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for mapping a building space using wearable devices in order to better control the comfort level in the building. In some instances, a system compiles information such as temperature information that is provided by an individual's wearable device as the individual moves about the building over time. Using this data, the system may create and/or update a comfort map of the building, which can be used to determine how various rooms of the building heat and cool over time, as well as usage pattern of the various rooms of the building. The system can then use the comfort map of the building to better control one or more comfort sources of the building.
