A method for saving money through payroll withholding, including: obtaining, for a tax year, a projected tax liability of an employee and a target savings amount selected by the employee; identifying, for the tax year, multiple pay periods for the employee; calculating multiple of tax withholding amounts for the multiple pay periods based on the projected tax liability; calculating multiple savings withholding amounts for the multiple pay periods based on the target savings amount; withholding the multiple tax withholding amounts and the multiple savings withholding amounts from multiple paychecks of the employee corresponding to the multiple pay periods; sending the multiple tax withholding amounts to a tax authority for paying the projected tax liability; and disbursing the target savings amount from a financial account funded by the multiple savings withholding amounts.

Some embodiments of the present invention provide a system that executes an application. During operation, the system physiologically monitors a user of the application with a set of sensors as the application executes. Next, the system assesses a mental state of the user based on physiological data collected from the sensors. Finally, the system changes the behavior of the application based on the assessed mental state to facilitate use of the application by the user.

Method and system for dynamic adaptation of user experience in an application

A method for generating a pricing estimate involves displaying a graphical user interface (GUI) to obtain and display data associated with the pricing estimate, receiving items of the pricing estimate receiving a request to generate the pricing estimate, and obtaining, in response to receiving the request, pricing data for the items from a pricing server collecting pricing data from suppliers. The method further involves accessing a pricing rule relating to items of the pricing estimate, applying the pricing rule to the pricing data for the items to obtain adjusted pricing data, populating the GUI with the adjusted pricing data, calculating a total estimated cost based on adjusted pricing data and displaying the total estimated cost within the GUI.
