A power controller in collocation with a rectification unit, a transformer, a switching unit, a current sensing resistor, an output rectification unit, and an output capacitor is disclosed, and includes a working voltage pin, a ground pin, a PWM driving pin, a current sensing pin, and a load feedback pin for converting an external AC input power into an output power to supply a load. In particular, the power controller simultaneously performs active detection on load power to provide overload protection. Specifically, a load feedback signal related to a load power and a threshold load voltage representative of a preset threshold load power is compared, and a power counter representative of a calculated load power is increased by one, decreased by one, or kept without change according to the comparison result. Then, the power counter is employed to determine whether an overload abnormal event occurs.

Power controller of load power detection

Disclosed is a method of acquiring input and output voltage information by employing a pulse width modulation (PWM) controller, which is in collocation with an input power processing unit, a primary inductor, a switch element, a current-sensing resistor, an output rectifier, and an output filter for converting an alternating current input power into an rectified input power and an output power, and the output power supplies an external load. A current-sensing signal is specifically disposed and applied to calculation of the input voltage and output voltage of the rectified input power when the switch element is turned on and off, respectively. Thus, no resistive voltage divider is needed, and power consumption at no load is greatly improved.

Method of acquiring input and output voltage information

Disclosed is an integrated PFC and PWM controller with a plurality of frequency-load curves to minimize the no-load power consumption and maximize 4-point average efficiencies. The controller selects a frequency-load curve among the plurality of frequency-load and controls the PFC stage and the PWM stage to operate in HM, BM, DCM, or CCM based on the combined result from the input voltage and the output load sense signal, fetched respectively from the input terminal of the PFC stage and the output terminal of the PWM stage. The controller has the PSU operate in HM in case of no load, and operate in BM, DCM or CCM as the load increases across the flyback out rail.

Integrated PFC and PWM controller with a plurality of frequency-load curves

Disclosed is a PWM controller with programmable switching frequency for PSR/SSR flyback converter so as to maximize the performance-to-cost ratio by tailor-making the switching frequency as a non-decreasing function of the output load and the maximum switching frequency as a non-increasing function of the input voltage, leading to a plurality of programmable voltage-dependent frequency-load curves, making possible the downsizing of flyback transformer while facilitating the simultaneous compliance with DoE and CoC efficiency requirements.

PWM controller with programmable switching frequency for PSR/SSR flyback converter

Disclosed is an isolated power conversion system for providing a function of isolated power conversion by converting an AC power into a DC output power, and a rectifying unit, a transformer, a switching transistor, a first pulse width modulation (PWM) controller, a second PWM controller, an output unit and a signal blocking unit are included. The signal blocking unit is employed as a connection interface between the first and second PWM controllers to provide digital signal for communication. Noise margin and stability of electrical operation are improved to avoid malfunction. Overall, the present invention greatly enhances stability of power conversion and secures quality of electrical signal.

Isolated power conversion system

A power converting apparatus with dynamical driving adjustment includes a rectifying unit, a power factor correction unit, a power conversion unit and a feedback unit. The rectifying unit rectifies an AC input power to generate and transfer a DC power to the power factor correction unit for performing power factor correction. A power factor correction power is generated and transferred to the power conversion unit. The feedback unit is electrically connected to the power conversion unit to form a closed control loop. A PWM driving controller of the power conversion unit performs an adjustment process to control a switching transistor based on a feedback signal from the feedback unit, and the power conversion unit converts the power factor correction power into an output power supplied to an external load. Thus, the margin for electromagnetic interference is increased, and both switching loss and conduction loss are considerably reduced.

Power converting apparatus with dynamic driving adjustment

A power control apparatus with dynamical adjustment of driving capability for converting an input power into an output power includes a transformer, a switch transistor connected to the transformer, a pulsed width modulation (PWM) driving controller generating a PWM signal and connected to the switch transistor, an isolation element, an output diode and an output capacitor. The first side coil of the transformer and the switch transistor are connected to the input power, the second side coil of the transformer is connected to the output diode and further connected to the output capacitor and an external load. The isolation element converts the output power into a feedback signal providing the PWM driving controller to dynamically control the PWM driving signal through adjustment so as to implement the optimal turn-on current for the switch transistor. Therefore, electrical performance and conversion efficiency are greatly improved by reducing the switching loss.

Power control apparatus with dynamic adjustment of driving capability

A sine pulse width modulation controller includes an edge detection unit for receiving a feedback input signal from the external electrical device to generate an edge signal, a register unit for storing and outputting a parameter signal, an angle increasing unit for receiving the edge signal and the parameter signal, determining cycles of pulse width modulation and generating an angle signal, a sine calculation unit for receiving the angle signal and performing a recursive algorithm based on the angle signal to implement the recursive algorithm so as to generate a sine calculation value, a multiplication unit for receiving the sine calculation value which is then further multiplied by the amplitude signal from the register unit to generate a pulse width signal, and a sine output unit receiving the pulse width signal to generate driving signals for driving the external electrical device to generate a sine terminal voltage.

Sine pulse width modulation controller

A synchronous rectifying buck-boost converter includes a controller, first and second transistors, an inductor and a capacitor. The controller is connected to the gates of the first and second transistors for controlling ON/OFF of the first and second transistors, and further controls the current of the inductor and charge/discharge of the capacitor. The first and second transistors connected in series are connected to the controller and the inductor. The inductor is connected to a first external power unit or a first external loading device. The drain of the first transistor is connected to a second external power unit or a second external loading device such that a low-voltage input power of the first external power unit is converted to a high-voltage output power or a high-voltage input power of the second external power unit is converted to a low-voltage output power.

Synchronous rectifying buck-boost converter

A digital pulse width modulation controller includes a pulse width modulation controller, a selection unit having at least one selector, a comparison unit having at least one comparator, and a signal conversion unit having at least one digital-to-analog converter. The digital-to-analog converter generates a reference current and/or voltage. The comparator receives the reference current and/or voltage, and performs a comparison operation to generate a comparison signal based on a feedback signal. The selector selects one selection signal to input into the pulse width modulation controller, which receives other parameters set by a user or the system at the same time so as to control characteristics of the digital pulse width modulation signals, thereby improving the electric properties of a loading circuit.

Digital pulse width modulation controller

A power converter module is disclosed, which is an all-digital module. The power converter module includes a reference voltage generation unit, a voltage loop control unit, a current loop control unit, an input voltage compensation unit, and a pulse width modulation generation unit, to transfer input power to stable output power for providing power to an external loading device through driving bridge switch unit with external driver. The voltage loop control unit and the current loop control unit contain a proportion-integral-differentiation controller for receiving signal related to voltage and current of loading device to form voltage control loop and current control loop. The pulse width modulation generation unit contains function of deciding necessary stop time to improve quality of output power and decrease the effect of input power and loading variation, and to provide stable sine-waveform output power to the external loading device.

Power converter module

A digital power factor correction device is provided, which is an all-digital control module. The digital power factor correction device includes a voltage loop control unit, an input power control unit, a current loop control unit, and a pulse width modulation generation unit, to perform power factor correction for minimizing the phase difference between input current and input voltage through adjusting input current with an external driver and a switch unit. The voltage loop control unit and the current loop control unit contain a proportion-integral-differentiation controller to form a voltage control loop and a current control loop, respectively. The input power control unit adjusts current waveform according to the input power, while the pulse width modulation generation unit determines the stop time of pulse width modulation to produce a pulse width modulation signal, to control the external driver and the switch unit for eliminating loading effect.

Digital power factor correction device

A power detection regulation device including a power detection signal generator, a power state detector and a regulated output unit is disclosed. The power detection signal generator receives the input power from an external power supply and generates a power detection signal. The power state detector generates a power state signal based on the power state derived from the power detection signal. The regulated output unit receives the power state signal and generates a driving signal to an external electrical device in accordance with the feedback signal from the external electrical device. The power state signal is provided for the external electrical element to perform relevant processes, and the regulated output device can output the predetermined driving signal on receiving the power state signal indicating some abnormal situation in the input power so as to maintain the normal operation performed by the actuating element in the external electrical device.

Power detection regulation device

A signal detector and a signal detection method adapted for detecting a voltage signal are provided. According to a digital signal converted from a low voltage full wave or half wave signal and/or a mains AC signal inputted thereto, the signal detector and the signal detection method are capable of detecting a voltage level, and/or a frequency, and/or a zero point, and/or a phase of the low voltage full wave or half wave signal and/or the mains AC signal inputted thereto, and determining whether the detected factor is abnormal, and is further capable of outputting an interrupt signal for subsequent processing.

Signal detector and signal detection method

A PWM step wave and sine wave driving device is provided. The driving device includes an ADC unit, an input processing unit, a first pulse width calculation unit, a register unit, a first output unit, a zero point detecting unit, a second pulse width calculation unit, a second output unit, and a multiplexer output unit. The driving device receives input signals, and output desired step wave or sine wave driving signals for driving an external electric device. The driving device detects a point of zero voltage of the system power supply by the zero point detecting unit. When the system power supply is abnormal, the first output unit outputs predetermined PWM step wave output signals, or the second output unit outputs predetermined PWM sine wave output signals. In such a way, the external electric device can be maintained for regular operation, so that the malfunction or breakdown thereof is prevented.
