A method, applied in an apparatus and computer readable storage medium, for establishing location of a target terminal in an obstructed environment comprises determining, based on indoor environmental information and data observed by a plurality of base stations in communication with the terminal, establishes lines of signals from the terminal scattered by local obstructions, and based on positional information as to the obstructions which cause the scattering, estimating a more precise positional information of the terminal.

A method for channel estimation, performed by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), includes: receiving a plurality of input signals, generating a plurality of sensing matrices for the input signals, generating an augmented sensing matrix and an augmented observation vector according to the sensing matrices and the input signals, estimating a plurality of channel delay parameters according to the augmented sensing matrix and the augmented observation vector, and estimating channel information according to the channel delay parameters.

Methods and devices for channel estimation

A method of accurate 3D positioning with reduced cost is proposed. A user equipment (UE) receives a plurality of positioning reference signals (PRSs) from a plurality of base stations. The plurality of base stations includes a serving base station and two neighboring base stations. The UE estimates a plurality of line-of-sight (LOS) paths and corresponding indexes of the PRSs for time of arrival (TOA) and time difference of arrival (TDOA) measurements. The UE then estimates an elevation angle of the UE based on the estimated LOS paths of the PRS from the serving base station. Finally, the system (either UE or network, depending on where the coordinates are) can calculate the UE position based on the TDOA measurements and the elevation angle.

Localization-based beamforming scheme for systems with multiple antennas

A method for a mobile station to provide to a base station feedback of channel state information (CSI) regarding a plurality of communication channels between the mobile station and the base station. The method includes: estimating the CSI by calculating a plurality of channel responses each for one of the communication channels; compressing the estimated CSI; and sending the compressed CSI as the feedback to the base station.

A wireless communication receiving system and an apparatus and a method for deciding a transmitted signal corresponding to a received signal thereof are provided. The transmitted signal comprises a plurality of sub-transmitted signals. The system selects at least one of the sub-transmitted signals as a reference signal group, wherein each of a plurality of candidate values of the reference signal group forms a candidate geometric space respectively. The received signal is projected to each of the candidate geometric spaces to generate a projection signal respectively. In each of the candidate geometric space, the corresponding projection signal is quantized to generate a quantized projection signal having a projection distance to the corresponding projection signal. Finally, the transmitted signal is decided according the quantized projection signal and the candidate signal value corresponding to the shortest projection distance.

Wireless communication receiving system and apparatus and method for deciding a transmitted signal corresponding to a received signal thereof

A MIMO OFDM system for TICM includes a tone-level interleaver at the transmitter using a block of Nsymbols as its basic unit. This results in different decoding architectures at the receiver. The main advantage of TICM is to merge soft-bit demapping into the Viterbi algorithm. Taking advantage of the trellis structure inherent in the Viterbi algorithm, TICM can have lower computational complexity and potentially better performance than BICM with the LSD detector and the vector demapper. Although the tone-level interleaving may not have spatial diversity gain, the performance is not affected in 802.11n environments.

Tone-interleaved coded modulation scheme for MIMO OFDM communication

An apparatus and a method for cancelling an interference of each of a plurality of received signals are provided. The apparatus comprises an estimation module, an ordering module, a selection module, an equalizer, and a cancellation module. The estimation module estimates a plurality of estimated channels according to a first predetermined number of pilot-tones. The ordering module decides a decision order for processing. The selection module selects a second predetermined number of the received signals as the second predetermined number of processing signals. The equalizer estimates the estimated values, wherein each of the estimated values corresponds to a processing signal. The decision module decides a decided value for each of the estimated values. The cancellation module cancels the interference for each of the processing signals according to the corresponding decided value and the corresponding channel. Then, the estimation module further estimates the estimated channels according to the pilot-tones and a plurality of estimated values.

System, apparatus, and method for cancelling interferences of received signals

An apparatus and method of an OFDM system for compensating IQ imbalance. The apparatus includes a mixer module for mixing a wireless signal to generate a pair of in-phase and quadrature-phase analog signals; an in-phase and quadrature-phase imbalance parameter estimation unit coupled to the mixer module for estimating a gain compensation value and a phase compensation value; and a signal compensation module coupled to the in-phase and quadrature-phase imbalance parameter estimation unit for compensating the pair of in-phase and quadrature-phase analog signals for gain imbalance and phase imbalance, according to the gain compensation value and the phase compensation value respectively.

Apparatus and method for compensating IQ imbalance in OFDM system with carrier frequency offset

A communication system includes an echo canceller and double-talk detector. The echo canceller includes an adaptive finite impulse response filter that generates an adaptive filter weight vector. The double talk detector computes a squared norm of the filter weight vector and detects an increase of the squared norm in order to detect double-talk status. Upon detection of double-talk status, operation of the echo canceller is suspended.

Double-talk detector

A method and apparatus for enhancing a speech signal contaminated by additive noise through Kalman filtering. The speech is decomposed into subband speech signals by a multichannel analysis filter bank including bandpass filters and decimation filters. Each subband speech signal is converted into a sequence of voice frames. A plurality of low-order Kalman filters are respectively applied to filter each of the subband speech signals. The autoregression (AR) parameters which are required for each Kalman filter are estimated frame-by-frame by using a correlation subtraction method to estimate the autocorrelation function and solving the corresponding Yule-Walker equations for each of the subband speech signals, respectively. The filtered subband speech signals are then combined or synthesized by a multichannel synthesis filter bank including interpolation filters and bandpass filters, and the outputs of the multichannel synthesis filter bank are summed in an adder to produce the enhanced fullband speech signal.
