A tool exchange device is capable of automatically and swiftly exchanging tools during non-cutting processes. The tool exchange device includes a motor; a belt assembly capable of being driven by the motor; a reduction gear assembly having a worm engaged with the belt assembly, and a worm gear meshed with the worm; a compound cam having a concave globoidal cam, a first grooved face cam, a first cam follower, a second grooved face cam, and a second cam follower; a swap assembly having a swap arm, a rotation shaft affixed to the swap arm, and a set of rollers affixed to the rotation shaft and meshed with the grooves formed on the concave globoidal cam so as to drive the swap arm to rotate around its own axis through the compound cam; a force multiplying mechanism having a pivoted lever and a toggle assembly, and a slider, the pivoted lever being activated by the second cam follower of the compound cam so as to drive the slider to move reciprocally; and a head shaft having a head shaft housing, a push-pull rod, and a set of pan spring. The pan spring constantly urges the rod upward so as to clamp the tool during the cutting operation.

Tool exchange device for machining centers

An automatic tool changer in a machining center includes a reducer, a compound cam, a cylindric cam, a four-bar mechanism, an elliptic trammel mechanism, and a tool changer device. The compound cam and the cylindric cam are driven by a motor after speed reduction through a belt and gear train. The compound cam which is composed of a roller gear cam and a face cam performs the tool change motions. During the tool change motions, the cylindric cam drives the follower which is fixed on the slider of the elliptic trammel mechanism to make the other slider push the pull bar which produces the pushing and pulling tool motions in the spindle head. By way of using this design, the tool change time is largely reduced, the tool change motions are smoother, and the cost is less expensive than the previous designs.

An automatic tool changer in a machining enter includes a reducer, a compound cam, a cylindrical cam, a four-bar mechanism, a toggle mechanism, and a tool cahnge device. The compound cam and the cylindrical cam are driven by a motor after speed reduction through a belt and gear train. An apparatus for controlling the motion of a weft insertion member in shuttleless looms, the apparatus includes: a triple-threaded variable pitch cylindrical cam, adapted to be secured to the weft insertion member; and a slider, which contains three roller seats to receive six frustoconical rollers, in which the six frustoconical rollers are divided into three groups, each group has two frustoconical rollers, each group of two frustoconical rollers is rotatably received by one roller seat and is located between two adjacent threads of the triple-threaded variable pitch cylindrical cam with different one of the two frustoconical rollers contacting different one of the two adjacent threads so that each thread of the triple-threaded variable pitch cylindrical cam is in mating engagement with two frustoconical rollers from two different groups of the three groups of two frustoconical rollers.

Variable pitch cyclindrical cam mechanism for controlling the motion of

A mechanism controls the motion of the weft insertion member in shuttleless looms. This mechanism comprises a double-threaded variable pitch cylindrical cam and a slider having two pairs of frustoconical rollers. Each pair of frustoconical rollers is mounted on a thread of the variable pitch cylindrical cam. In operation, the cylindrical cam is able to rotate in a reciprocating manner by moving the slider in a rectilinear reciprocating manner. The mechanism is characterized in that the semi-conical angle of each frustoconical roller is formed such that the profile of the two threads of the variable pitch cam screw is easy to design and manufacture. In particular, the plane formed by the axes of each pair of frustoconical rollers is inclined at a predetermined angle in relation to the plane perpendicular to the axis of the variable pitch cylindrical cam and the predetermined angle is such that the thickness of each thread of the variable pitch cam screw is near constant, and uniform strength of each thread is obtained.
