A light-emitting package, includes: a housing including an opening; a lead frame covered by the housing; a light-emitting device, mounted in the opening and electrically connected to the lead frame, the light-emitting device including: a substrate including: a base with a main surface; and a plurality of protrusions on the main surface, wherein the protrusion and the base include different materials; a semiconductor stack on the main surface, the semiconductor stack including a side wall, and wherein an included angle between the side wall and the main surface is an obtuse angle; wherein the main surface includes a peripheral area not covered by the semiconductor stack, and the peripheral area is devoid of the protrusion formed thereon; and a filling material filling in the opening and covering the light-emitting device.

Light-emitting device and manufacturing method thereof

A method of manufacturing a light-emitting device, including: providing a substrate structure including a top surface; forming a precursor layer on the top surface; removing a portion of the precursor layer and a portion of the substrate from the top surface to form a base portion and a plurality of protrusions regularly arranged on the base portion; forming a buffer layer on the base portion and the plurality protrusions; and forming a III-V compound cap layer on the buffer layer; wherein one of the plurality of protrusions comprises a first portion and a second portion formed on the first portion; wherein the first portion is integrated with the base portion and has a first material which is the same as that of the base portion; and wherein the buffer layer contacts side surfaces of the plurality of protrusions and a surface of the base portion.

Method of manufacturing a light-emitting device

A light-emitting device, includes a substrate structure, including a base portion having a surface and a plurality of protrusions regularly formed on the base portion; a buffer layer covering the plurality of protrusions and the surface; and III-V compound semiconductor layers formed on the buffer layer; wherein one of the plurality of protrusions includes a first portion and a second portion formed on the first portion and the first portion is integrated with the base portion; and wherein the base portion includes a first material and the first portion includes the first material.

Ternary nitride-based buffer layer of a nitride-based light-emitting device and related manufacturing method. The device includes a substrate and a plurality of layers formed over the substrate in the following sequence: a ternary nitride-based buffer layer, a first conductivity type nitride-based semiconductor layer, a light-emitting layer, and a second conductivity type nitride-based semiconductor layer. The manufacturing method includes introducing a first reaction source containing a first group III element into a chamber at a first temperature that is subsequently deposited on the surface of the substrate, the melting point of said element being lower than the first temperature. Introducing a second reaction source containing a second group III element and a third reaction source containing a nitrogen element into the chamber at a second temperature, no lower than the melting point of the first group III element, for forming a ternary nitride-based buffer layer with the first group III element.

The present invention discloses an apparatus and system for multi-stage event synchronization, whose main object is to eliminate the drawbacks of an expensive synchronization circuit used to balance the data transmissions between an origination agent and a destination agent operating at different frequencies or clock phases as in prior art. The apparatus of the present invention organizes the slower one with multi-stage chains, each of which comprises a simple synchronization circuit and an XOR gate, for receiving the number of events transmitted from the faster one. Therefore, the slower one will not miss the data from the faster one.

Apparatus and system for multi-stage event synchronization

In a memory controller system, a method for granting a system memory by a memory request arbitrator to a request among a plurality of pending memory access requests is provided. The plurality of the memory access requests includes Rfrsh_Hreq, Crt_Hreq, Group AB, Crt_Lreq and Rfrsh_Lreq and are respectively asserted by a host control circuitry and/or a graphical control circuitry which are implemented and integrated on a single monolithic semiconductor chip. The host control circuitry and the graphical control circuitry shares the system memory and the memory request arbitrator includes a refresh queue and the graphics control circuitry includes a CRT FIFO. The method prioritizes the plurality of the memory access requests in order of Rfrsh_Hreq>Crt_Hreq>Group AB>Crt_Lreq>Rfrsh_Lreq. The Rfsh_Hreq is memory refresh request signal of first type whenever the refresh queue being full, the Crt_Hreq is memory access signal of a first type for fueling the CRT FIFO with display data, the Group AB are memory access request signals of a second type output either from the graphical control circuitry or the host control circuitry, the Crt_Lreq is memory access signal of a third type for fueling the CRT FIFO with display data, the Rfrsh_Lreq is memory refresh request signal of second type whenever the refresh queue being non-empty.

Method for arbitrating multiple memory access requests in a unified memory architecture via a non unified memory controller

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for performing bus transactions orderly and concurrently in a bus bridge. To meet the ordering rules, the invention adopts a HOLD/HLDA handshaking mechanism to control the flow of transactions in the bus bridge. When both HOLD and HLDA signals are asserted, the bus bridge holds the transaction processed in one direction and then the bus bridge is ready to process the transaction from another direction. That is, the bus bridge first controls the transaction flowing in one direction whenever there is request coming from another direction, wherein the HOLD signal is asserted simultaneously. Upon receipt of the HLDA signal indicating that the transaction flow has been completely held in one direction, the bus bridge allows the transaction to flow from another direction by granting the request agent bus ownership. The present invention also provides a method to avoid deadlock. The bus bridge retries transactions stalling the bus in two cases. First, the bus bridge retries non-postable transactions until the posted transactions in the posting buffers on the same side are completed at the destination. Second, the bus bridge retries postable transactions until the posting buffers on the same side have sufficient spaces to accept transactions.
