A system and method of providing a plurality of services through a plurality of vehicle-generated Wi-Fi channels includes: generating at a first Wi-Fi module a first Wi-Fi channel that includes a master list of services provided by the first Wi-Fi module as well as one or more other Wi-Fi modules; receiving a request for a service included on the master list at the first Wi-Fi module from a wireless device communicating; determining that the service is not available through the first Wi-Fi module; identifying a second Wi-Fi module that provides the service; and transmitting a message to the wireless device identifying the second Wi-Fi module that provides the service identified in the request.

A method for generating and transmitting a reminder message includes obtaining a unique user profile. The user profile includes a user identification (ID) indicative of a unique user, an object ID indicative of a unique object, and a device ID indicative of a unique mobile device. The processor is configured to predict a spatial relationship between the user, the object, and the mobile device. The prediction is based, in part, on the user ID, the object ID, and the device ID, where the prediction includes a geographic location for the user, the object, and/or the mobile device. The processor compares a location of at least two of the user, the object and the mobile device with the prediction of the user's spatial relationship with the object and the mobile device. The processor transmits a reminder message when the prediction of the spatial relationship exceeds a predetermined threshold.

A system and method for carrying out wireless communications at a vehicle, wherein the vehicle comprises a wireless communications device and a plurality of vehicle system modules, wherein the method is carried out by the wireless communications device. The method can include the steps of: receiving an anticipatory vehicle ignition termination signal; setting the wireless communications device to operate in a station mode; detecting the presence of a wireless access point using the wireless communications device in the station mode; providing an indication to at least one of the vehicle system modules of the presence of the wireless access point; establishing a wireless connection between the wireless communications device and the wireless access point; and communicating data between the wireless access point and one or more vehicle system modules via the established wireless connection using the wireless communications device.

The system includes a communication module that utilizes at least two different short range wireless communication technologies to facilitate communication and/or pairing of an occupant's smartphone or other mobile device with an embedded vehicle system such as a vehicle infotainment system. A method and system for selective activation of a vehicle near field communication (NFC) module. The vehicle NFC module may be part of a vehicle communication and access system capable of initiating various vehicle functions, such as unlocking one or more doors of the vehicle or starting a motor or engine of the vehicle. With the method and system, a user's mobile device can be used in lieu of a key or a key fob. In situations where the battery power level of the user's mobile device is low, such that Bluetooth or the generation of an active NFC signal is unavailable, the vehicle NFC module is maintained in an active mode. In the active mode, the vehicle NFC module can initiate a connection with a passive mobile NFC target. Otherwise, depending on the battery level of the user's mobile device, the vehicle NFC module is maintained in a standard sleep mode to save power.

Method and system for selectively activating a vehicle near field communication module

A mobile communication system and a method of establishing a wireless connection between a vehicle and at least one mobile device. Each of the plurality of devices is prioritized from the highest to lowest based on the predetermined priority. A user configuration of the one of the plurality of devices with the highest priority is red. A connection between the one of the plurality of devices with the highest priority and the infotainment system of the motor vehicle is attempted. A communication session between the one of the plurality of devices with the highest priority and the infotainment system of the motor vehicle is then established.
