Apparatuses and methods for identifying infrastructure through machine learning

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, monitoring communication traffic in a communication network including a plurality of cell sites and a plurality of collector circuits over a time period, storing information about the communication traffic and information about available network resources in a database and predicting where additional capacity will be needed in the communication network at a future time, wherein the predicting is based on the information about the communication traffic. The subject disclosure may further include improving assignment of additional capacity in the communication network between the plurality of cell sites and the plurality of collector circuits based on the information about available network resources and communicating with network switches to assign the additional capacity within the communication network and initiate communication in the communication network. A method includes receiving, at a model and optimization framework, a request, rendered in a first format, for a service to be implemented on a subset of a software-defined network. The request includes at least one constraint affecting implementation of the service. The method includes producing an optimized solution, rendered in a second format, for implementing the service based on the at least one constraint. The method includes translating the optimized solution to the first format and providing instructions for a cloud manager to implement the service consistent with the translated optimized solution.

Model-driven implementation of services on a software-defined network

Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to a multi-tier fault tolerant network design with Quality of Service ('QoS') considerations. According to one aspect, a network planning system can identify at least one critical site of a plurality of sites. The critical site is considered to be critical for survivability of a network. The network planning system can construct a topology that connects the plurality of sites. The network planning system can determine a shortest path for each network link in the topology. The network planning system can check a service level agreement to determine a reliability requirement for each link in the topology that is not connected to the critical site. The network planning system can implement a reliable adaptive multipath provisioning algorithm to adaptively determine a bandwidth allocation on each link in the topology based, at least in part, upon the shortest path and the reliability requirement.

Multi-tier fault tolerant network design with quality of service considerations

Communication networks go through frequent upgrades, whereby access point (AP) devices that serve network client devices are brought offline to effectuate the upgrade. Concurrently upgrading too many AP devices within a given geographic area can lead to coverage holes where no service is available, congestion where data cannot be sufficiently communicated, or other service degradation. On the other hand, upgrading too few AP devices within the area can result in a network-wide upgrade time that is too great. An architecture is presented that can efficiently generate a schedule for upgrading AP devices of a communication network.

A method, computer-readable storage device and apparatus for routing traffic in a reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer layer of a dense wavelength division multiplexing network are disclosed. For example, the method determines the reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer layer has asymmetric traffic, and routes the asymmetric traffic in the reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer layer over a plurality of asymmetrical optical connections, wherein the plurality of asymmetrical optical connections is provided with only uni-directional equipment in the reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer layer.
