An object of the present invention is to provide a sliding member which can slide for a longer period of time even in a dry state. In the present invention, sliding layersare provided on the surfaces of a base material, and the sliding layercontains polybenzimidazole (PBI) and 1 to 70 vol % of a solid lubricant. Since PBI, which is a thermoplastic resin, has higher heat resistance and also has higher material strength than PAI, PI, and EP, which are the conventionally used thermosetting resins, the wear resistance and the anti-seizure property can be improved and a decrease in material strength caused by high-temperature atmosphere, heat generation at the time of sliding, etc. can be restrained. Furthermore, the initial conformability can be improved because of high elongation percentage. Also, since the sliding layer contains the solid lubricant, the coefficient of friction can be decreased, and hence the anti-seizure property can be enhanced.

Sliding member

There is provided a method of forming a coat on an inner surface of a bearing, in which a jigis attached to a rotorwhile holding four bearingsfor example, so as to form those in a cylinder shape. Then, while the rotoris rotated at a circumferential speed of 0.3 m/sec, a nozzlefor airless spraying is inserted into the rotor, so that the nozzleinjects a coating materialfrom the inside of the bearingstoward an inner surfaces of the bearingsto apply the coating material thereon. Because the coating materialis injected from the nozzlewithout using compressed air, the fly amount of the coating material is made less as compared to air spray painting.
