The present invention relates to processes and systems for preparing nanoparticles, cellular or viral membranes and/or cellular or viral membrane coated nanoparticles using or comprising, inter alia, a multi-inlet vortexing reactor, tangential flow filtration (TFF) and/or a high shear fluid processor such as a microfluidizer (or a microfluidizer processor). The present invention also relates to the nanoparticles, cellular or viral membranes and/or cellular or viral membrane coated nanoparticles prepared by the present processes and systems, and the uses and/or applications of the nanoparticles, cellular or viral membranes and/or cellular or viral membrane coated nanoparticles.

Processes and systems for preparing cellular or viral membranes and nanoparticles

The present disclosure relates to nanoparticles containing cellular membrane and uses thereof. The nanoparticle comprises an interior compartment (or an inner core) and an outer surface (or shell) comprising a cellular membrane derived from a cell, said interior compartment (or an inner core) not providing a solid support to said cellular membrane in said outer surface (or shell). The present disclosure also relates to processes of making the nanoparticles. The present disclosure further relates to compositions comprising the nanoparticles and methods of using the nanoparticles.

The present invention provides for compositions comprising a polymeric hydrogel impregnated with a toxin-absorbing or binding nanoparticle. Cellular or viral membrane coated nanostructures and uses thereof

Nanoparticles are provided comprising an inner core comprising a non-cellular material, and an outer surface comprising a bacterial membrane, e.g., a bacterial membrane derived from a bacteria outer membrane vesicle. Also provided are compositions, e.g., medicament delivery systems and pharmaceutical compositions, comprising the present nanoparticles. Also provided are uses of the present nanoparticles, pharmaceutical compositions and medicament delivery systems for treating and/or preventing a disease or condition, e.g., bacterial infection, in a subject.

Modulating antibacterial immunity via bacterial membrane-coated nanoparticles

The present invention provides a process for preparing the nanoparticles. The process comprises first forming a water-in-oil emulsion from chitosan lactate, amoxicillin, dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate, glutaraldehyde or bis[sulfosuccinimidyl] suberate, and oil, and sonicating the mixture of to form nanoparticles comprising chitosan crosslinked by dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate and glutaraldehyde or by dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate and bis[sulfosuccinimidyl] suberate, wherein the nanoparticles have an average diameter of 100-600 nm and have amoxicillin entrapped by the crosslinked chitosan. The present invention is also directed to nanoparticles comprising crosslinked chitosan and amoxicillin, wherein amoxicillin is entrapped by the crosslinked chitosan. The nanoparticles have an average diameter of 100-600 nm, and the entrapped amoxicillin is at least 5% (w/w) of the total weight nanoparticles.

Crosslinked nanoparticle composition

This disclosure relates to particles (e.g., nanoparticles and microparticles) that display multiple functionalized surface domains in a controlled mosaic pattern. The disclosure also provides simple methods to create various particles that have multiple functionalized surface domains while allowing the use of a wide variety of diverse core structures. The multiple functionalized domains provide controllable particle binding and orientation, and controlled and sustained drug release profiles.

The present invention generally relates to polymers and particles, such as nanoparticles. The particles and polymers generally include one or more buffering components. Additionally, the particles and polymers may include two or more components that impart useful properties (functionalities). The particles and polymers, for example, may include a buffering component and a degradable component. As described herein, the particles and polymers may also include a hydrophilic component and/or a cleavable bond component. The particles and polymers described herein have been found to be particularly effective when used for delivery of one or more agents, such as one or more pharmaceutical agents. Other aspects of the invention are directed to methods of using or administering such particles or polymers, kits involving such particles or polymers, and the like. The present invention also relates to particles containing a cleavable bond component and one or more fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) pairs as well as methods of detecting the cleavage of the cleavable bond component of such particles.
