A kit for providing a polymerizable resin system is disclosed, which kit comprises a first Part A and a second Part B, which Part A and Part B upon mixing provides a working period of intermediate stage polymerization in which the mixture obtains a desired cohesiveness for a predetermined period of time. The first Part A comprises an acid and the second Part B comprises an organic compound that is water soluble or partially water soluble and that, in the presence of the acid, initiates curing of polymerizable monomer and/or resin that is present in Part A, Part B, or both. Also disclosed is a method of using the mixed composition as an adhesive, cement, glue, sealant, a base liner, a capping agent, a material for surface or structural repair and/or filling, an encasing material, a bodily implant, a dental material, and/or as a polymeric object having a living polymer surface property.

Living polymer in situ system and method of use

An obturator in which a filling material includes a biodegradable thermoplastic polymer. A bioactive substance may also be included in the filling material. The thermoplastic polymer acts as a matrix for the bioactive substance. The composition may include other polymeric resins, fillers, plasticizers and other additives typically used in dental materials.

Polymerizable compositions are provided that contain an epoxy compound and a polymerizable, ethylenically-unsaturated resin having an acid functional group where the epoxy compound is polymerized by cationic polymerization initiated by the acid functional group and the polymerizable, ethylenically-unsaturated resin is polymerized by free-radical polymerization. To that end, a two-part polymerizable composition is provided that has a first part containing the epoxy compound; and a second part containing the polymerizable, ethylenically-unsaturated resin having an acid functional group. The first part and/or the second part further contain a radical initiator effective to initiate either self-curing or light-curing by free-radical polymerization.

Epoxy-containing dental composition curable by multiple polymerization mechanisms

A self etching, dental cement composition is provided having the advantage of not requiring a separate etching and bonding step. The cement composition comprises a polymerizable (meth)acrylate trimellitic acid/anhydride, a phosphoric acid (meth)acrylate, a hydroxyalkyl(meth)acrylate, copolymerizable multi-functional (meth)acrylate monomers, a diluent, fillers, and a curing system. These cement compositions are prepared as a two-paste system that is combined prior to use.

A dental material comprising a symmetrically rod-shaped fiber-reinforced composite comprising at least two layers of preimpregnated fibers, wherein the preimpregnated fibers comprise fibers coated with a resin, wherein the layers are unbraided, and wherein each layer is unidirectionally disposed on the preceding layer in a direction that is different from the direction of the preceding layer. The rod-shaped composite may be hollow and contain a channel throughout the axial length of the rod or may contain a shaft or other material that is inserted into the channel.

A dental filling material comprising a polybutylene polymer having a molecular weight of about 10,000 to about 100,000 and being viscoelastic at about 20&#xb0; C.
