According to some aspects of the present disclosure, example stator assemblies for three phase dynamoelectric machines and related winding methods are disclosed. An example stator assembly generally includes a non-segmented stator core including a stator yoke and a plurality of teeth. The stator assembly also includes a plurality of coil portions electrically coupled in a delta winding pattern, and including a first coil portion extending around a first one of the plurality of teeth and a second coil portion extending around a second one of the plurality of teeth. The stator assembly further includes a plurality of connection portions including a first connection portion extending between the first coil portion and the second coil portion and electrically coupling the first coil portion and the second coil portion. The first coil portion, the second coil portion and the first connection portion are defined by a continuous length of winding wire.

Stator assemblies for three phase dynamoelectric machines and related winding methods

According to some aspects of the present disclosure, example stator assemblies for three phase dynamoelectric machines and related winding methods are disclosed. An example stator assembly generally includes a non-segmented stator core including a stator yoke and a plurality of teeth. The stator assembly also includes a plurality of coil portions electrically coupled in a delta winding pattern, with each coil portion extending around a different one of the plurality of teeth. The stator assembly further includes a plurality of connection portions each extending between two adjacent ones of the plurality of coil portions. A first set of consecutive ones of the plurality of coil portions is defined by a first continuous length of winding wire having two wire ends. Second and third sets of consecutive ones of the plurality of coil portions are each defined by respective continuous lengths of winding wire each having two ends.

A rotor core assembly for an electric motor includes a stack of laminations and first and second end plates disposed at opposite ends of the stack of laminations. A plurality of concentric fastener holes extend through the laminations and the end plates for receiving stainless steel pins. Each pin has a head against one of the end plates, and each pin has spaced apart grooves thereon extending from the other end plate. A stainless steel collar engages each of the pins and contacts one of the end plates. Each collar has a deformed portion in at least one of the grooves of the pin.

A stator for an electromagnetic machine includes a plurality of discrete and individually wound stator segments having end caps positioned on the segments. The end caps have legs for positioning the end cap on the segments with an interference fit. The end caps have angled surfaces to facilitate winding of wire on the segments. The end caps have male and female couplings that mate together to couple adjacent segments together. The end caps have fingers and slots for aligning the segments on substantially the same plane. The end caps have wire isolation features, including hooks, shelves and ledges, for separating the interconnect wires routed on the stator to electrically interconnect the segments. The segments include scalloped contours on their outer edges for draining oil, and the end caps have passages for draining oil.

A method of stitching a plurality of interconnect wires on a stator of an electromagnetic machine is disclosed. The stator includes a plurality of discrete and individually wound stator segments having end caps positioned on the segments. The end caps have wire isolation features, including hooks, shelves and ledges, for separating the interconnect wires routed on the stator to electrically interconnect the segments. The method includes routing the interconnect wires between portions of the stator such that portions of the interconnect wires overlap and separating the overlapping portions in an axial direction with the wire isolation elements.
