A method and apparatus for triggering activation of a secondary cell (SCell) and activating the SCell is provided. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a gNB, a SCell activation command indicating the UE to activate a SCell for communications between the UE and the gNB on the SCell, and receive a reference signal (RS) on the SCell. The RS is configured for activation of the SCell. The UE may perform, upon receiving the SCell activation command, SCell activation for activating the SCell based at least on the RS, and send, to the gNB, a report indicating that the SCell is activated for the UE.

A computer-implemented method for multi-user multiplexing for block transmissions by an electronic device includes generating a user signal that includes a number of first samples in the time domain. The number of first samples are generated based on a discrete-time baseband signal and a predetermined guard period. A discrete Fourier transform (DFT) operation is performed on the number of first samples to obtain a number of second samples in the frequency domain. An interleaving operation is performed on the number of second samples to obtain a number of third samples in the frequency domain. An inverse-DFT (IDFT) operation is performed on the number of third samples to obtain a number of fourth samples in the time domain. A time shifting is performed on the number of fourth samples to obtain a number of shifted fourth samples. A block transmission is sent using the number of shifted fourth samples.

Device, network, and method for network adaptation and utilizing a downlink discovery reference signal

User Equipments (UEs) may be assigned a set of aggregated component carriers for downlink carrier aggregation and/or carrier selection. Some UEs may be incapable of transmitting uplink signals over all component carriers in their assigned set of aggregated component carriers. In such scenarios, a UE may need to perform SRS switching in order to transmit SRS symbols over all of the component carriers. Embodiments of this disclosure provide various techniques for facilitating SRS switching. For example, a radio resource control (RRC) message may be used to signal a periodic SRS configuration parameter. As another example, a downlink control indication (DCI) message may be used to signal an aperiodic SRS configuration parameter. Many other examples are also provided.
