A compact, on-axis telephoto lens camera includes an arrangement of mirrors which receives incident light, and compresses and redirects the light, the arrangement having a primary mirror which receives the incident light, compresses and redirects the light toward a focal point of the primary mirror and has an opening defined at a central portion thereof, and a secondary mirror which receives light from the primary mirror and further redirects same. The camera also includes a cavity which extends into the camera from the opening of the primary mirror, aspheric lenses disposed at least partially within the cavity which receive the light from the multiple-mirror arrangement, and progressively expand and redirect the light received from the mirror arrangement, and an image sensor which receives the light from the aspheric lenses. The image sensor is disposed closely adjacent to the cavity such that a back focal length is substantially zero.

Compact telephoto lens camera suitable for use in smart phones and similar devices, and methods of using same

A hybrid optical device for compressing light, including a first part which receives incident light shining on the device, wherein the first part is formed into sections along at least one direction thereof, wherein the sections receive respective portions of the light received by the first part, and individually compress and redirect the received portions of light, a second part which includes plural reflective surfaces which receive the compressed light from the sections of the first portion and further compress and redirect the portions of light, and a third part which receives the further compressed portions of light from the sections of the second part, and redirects same such that the light is output from the device.

Hybrid optical devices, and applications using same including optical cloaking system

A catadioptric telephoto lens system which: receives incident light rays in a parallel path of both catoptrics and dioptrics, where some of the incident light rays go through a reflective path involving mirrors/reflective surfaces and others of the incident light rays go through a refractive path involving lenses; or receives incident light rays in a serial path of catoptrics and dioptrics, where all the incident light rays initially go through a reflective path involving mirrors/reflective surfaces and then go through a refractive path involving lenses. The system eliminates the black pupil/iris blur disadvantages associated with conventional telescopic lens systems and may be provided in a very compact form.

Compact catadioptric lenses and lens systems with improved image quality and methods of using same

An optical cloaking system which optically cloaks/hides an object in the visible light spectrum such that the object appears invisible, while permitting a background behind the object to be viewed substantially without distortion. The system includes at least one optical device manufactured using common optical materials in the form of prisms, lenses, mirrors, and the like, which is placed between an observer an the object to be cloaked, and the optical device bends and/or compresses light such that the light passes around a cloaked space in which an object is disposed, and the observer viewing a larger space including the cloaked space will not see the object, but will see a background behind the object in full view substantially undistorted in relation to the rest of the larger space.

Optical cloaking system

A rail gun launcher consists of an armature where a magnetic core with a multiple turn conductive coil, two parallel conductive rails on which terminals of the coil contact and slide, and a non-magnetic conductive barrel enclosing the rails and the armature. The coil partially encloses the magnetic core to shift magnetic equilibrium. When an AC power source is connected to the rails, the coil generates a source magnetism around the coil as well as an induced magnetism on the conductive barrel in an opposite direction through the magnetic core. The source magnetism and the induced magnetism are shifted in magnetic equilibrium and in opposite direction thereby repelling the armature forward. This repulsive force travels with the armature and is continuous from breech to muzzle and propels the armature forward to a high velocity without control circuitry or commutation.

Rail gun launcher

An electromagnetic launcher comprising, an electric power supply, a conductive, stationary guide operatively connected to the power supply and forming a flowpath for current from the power supply, and a non-conductive projectile disposed adjacent to the guide and which is accelerated along the guide when current flows through the guide. The guide includes a plurality of conductive rails disposed in spaced, substantially parallel relation to each other, a plurality of conductive rungs interconnecting the rails and disposed in spaced relation to each other along the rails, and normally-open switches operatively associated with the rungs for selectively permitting current flow through different ones of the rungs. The projectile includes a main body and a magnet supported by the main body such that the magnet faces the guide with a small gap therebetween. The switches are passively activated only when they are disposed within a magnetic field of the projectile, such that the switches are sequentially activated as the projectile moves along the guide and create an electromagnetic pushing Lorentz force which continuously accelerates the projectile along the guide substantially in a direction parallel to the guide.

Channel gun magnetic launcher

A filter uses a special autotransformer that has a ferromagnetic core with a plurality of legs and flux return bars. A first coil is located on one leg, and a second coil is located on the same leg, but spaced from the first coil. The first coil and at least part of the second coil are connected in series to receive distorted alternating current and at least that part of the second coil is connected to an output terminal. Between the coils and extending at least part of the way from the first leg to an adjacent leg is a magnetic shunt assembly to divert part of the flux generated in the first coil by the alternating current so that that part does not link with the second coil. An air gap is located to link with the second coil to create an inductor in that coil by flux in the second coil, and a capacitor is connected across the second coil to tune it to the fundamental frequency of the alternating current and substantially reduce harmonics in that current.

Harmonic filtering circuit with special transformer

An electric motor brake has a printed circuit board which circumferentially locates and. Returns a plurality of electromagnetic coil assemblies within a coil housing. The circuit board simplifies both the assembly and wiring associated with the electric motor brake. The circuit board is located within the coil housing and a stand off located between the printed circuit, board and the coil housing electrically connects the coil stators of each coil assembly with the coil housing. The circuit board connects each third coil assembly in a circular pattern to the same phase of a three-phase AC power source.
