A device may store first data structures that include first data identifying computing resources provided at an edge of a network for a computing environment. The device may store second data structures that include second data identifying aggregations of portions of the first data, and may store a third data structure that includes third data identifying an aggregation of the second data. The device may receive, from a first client device, client data identifying an address and resources associated with the first client device, and may update a first data structure based on the client data. The device may update a second data structure based on updating the first data structure, and may update the third data structure based on updating the second data structure. The device may provide a notification indicating that the first client device has been added as a computing resource for the computing environment.

Systems and methods for providing discovery and hierarchical management of distributed multi-access edge computing

A video encoding device (e.g., a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU)) may transmit an encoded frame with a frame sequence number using a transmission protocol. The video encoding device, an application on the video encoding device, and/or a protocol layer on the encoding device may detect a packet loss by receiving an error notification. The packet loss may be detected at the MAC layer. The packet loss may be signaled using spoofed packets, such as a spoofed NAM packet, a spoofed XR packet, or a spoofed ACK packet. A lost packet may be retransmitted at the MAC layer (e.g., by the encoding device or another device on the wireless path). Packet loss detection may be performed in uplink operations and/or downlink operations, and/or may be performed in video gaining applications via the cloud. The video encoding device may generate and send a second encoded frame based on the error notification.

Early packet loss detection and feedback

A network device in a Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) cluster is configured to: receive, from a wireless station, information associated with a User Equipment (UE) device that is wirelessly attached to a network through the wireless station and estimate a first time interval to complete a task for the UE device based on the information. If the first time interval is less than a threshold time interval, the processor is to: signal, through the wireless station, to the UE device to be in a connected state; execute the task; and send a result of the execution, through the wireless station, to the UE device.

Multi-access edge computing assisted device state transitions

A device obtains previously created data content. The device unmasks and extracts one or more chain of custody blocks stored in association with the data content. The one or more chain of custody blocks includes chain of custody data identifying who, when, where, and, with what hardware and/or software, created or edited the data content. The device analyzes the one or more chain of custody blocks and validates an origination of the data content based on the analysis of the one or more chain of custody blocks.

A method may include receiving, at a wireless station, device capability information associated with a number of user equipment (UE) devices and determining, by the wireless station, uplink and downlink configurations for a number of carriers associated with the wireless station. The method may also include configuring uplink and downlink time slots for each of the carriers based on the determined uplink and downlink configurations and modifying the uplink and downlink configurations for at least some of the carriers over time based on data usage or congestion associated with the at least some of the plurality of carriers.

An illustrative orchestration system is configured to provide, to a user equipment (UE) device communicatively coupled to a federation of compute clusters, cluster selection data for a subset of compute clusters from the federation of compute clusters. The orchestration system is further configured to receive, from the UE device, an orchestration request indicative of a compute cluster selected by the UE device based on the characterizing of the compute clusters of the subset. Methods and systems for orchestrating distributed computing resources

An exemplary multi-access edge computing (MEC) orchestration system obtains an operation parameter of a multi-client application that is to execute on a MEC server to be selected from a set of MEC servers located at a first set of locations within a coverage area of a provider network. When executing, the multi-client application serves respective client applications of a set of client devices located at a second set of locations within the coverage area. Based on the operation parameter, the MEC orchestration system identifies a candidate subset of MEC servers from the set of MEC servers and directs the set of client devices to test and report performance capabilities of the MEC servers in the candidate subset. Based on the reported performance capabilities, the MEC orchestration system selects, from the candidate subset of MEC servers, a particular MEC server on which the multi-client application is to execute.

Methods and devices for orchestrating selection of a multi-access edge computing server for a multi-client application

A video encoding device (e.g., a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU)) may transmit an encoded frame with a frame sequence number using a transmission protocol. Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed to perform rate adaptation in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The WTRU may receive an encoded data stream, which may be encoded according to a Dynamic Adaptive HTTP Streaming (DASH) standard. The WTRU may request and/or receive the data stream from a content server. The WTRU may monitor and/or receive a cross-layer parameter, such as a physical layer parameter, a RRC layer parameter, and/or a MAC layer parameter (e.g., a CQI, a PRB allocation, a MRM, or the like). The WTRU may perform rate adaption based on the cross-layer parameter. For example, the WTRU may set the CE bit of an Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN) field based on the cross-layer parameter. The WTRU may determine to request the data stream encoded at a different rate based on the cross-layer parameter, the CE bit, and/or a prediction based on the cross-layer parameter.

Rate adaptation using network signaling

An exemplary user equipment ('UE') device provides a service request to an orchestration system associated with a federation of compute clusters available to fulfill the service request. The UE device also identifies a service optimization policy associated with a user preference for balancing performance priorities during fulfillment of the service request. In response to the service request, the UE device receives cluster selection data from the orchestration system. Based on the cluster selection data, the UE device characterizes compute clusters, within a subset of compute clusters represented in the cluster selection data, with respect to the performance priorities. Based on the service optimization policy and the characterization of compute clusters in the subset, the UE device selects a compute cluster from the subset to fulfill the service request. The UE device then provides an orchestration request indicative of the selected compute cluster to the orchestration system.

Methods and devices for discovering and employing distributed computing resources to balance performance priorities

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for managing real-time traffic video flows. A node may comprise a processor configured to receive a first real-time video traffic flow. A state variable may be associated with the first real-time video traffic flow at the node and a state variable may be associated with the second real-time video traffic flow at the node. The first real-time video traffic flow may comprises plurality of packets and each packet may comprise a lost packet indicator. The node may be configured to drop a first packet in the first real-time video traffic flow, update the state variable associated with the first real-time video traffic flow at the node to indicate the dropped packet, and update the lost packet indicator for a second packet in the first real-time video traffic flow based on the dropped packet.

Quality of experience based queue management for routers for real-time video applications

A visible light communication (VLC) device for lighting and data transmission is disclosed. The VLC device may comprise circuitry configured to receive a first stream of bits and determine a first switchpoint for transmitting the first stream of bits and first filler data. The VLC device may further comprise red, green, and blue (RGB) light emitting diodes (LEDs) configured to transmit the first stream of bits and the first filler data in the visible light spectrum. The first filler data may begin to be transmitted at the first switchpoint. Similar to the first stream of bits, a second stream of bits may be received and transmitted by the RGB LEDs of the VLC device. In this way, a naked eye of a human may not detect flicker of the VLC device.

Method and apparatus for reduced flicker visible light communications (VLC)

HARQ parameters (e.g., maximum HARQ retransmission values) may be adapted. Cross-layer control and/or logical channel control may be used to select a maximum number of HARQ retransmissions, for example based on packet priority and/or QCI values. Respective priorities of video packets may be used to select one of a plurality of logical channels associated with a video application that may be established at a source wireless hop and/or a destination wireless hop. The logical channels have different HARQ characteristics. Different maximum HARQ retransmission values may be determined for select logical channels, for example such that packets of different priorities may be transmitted over different logical channels. One or more of the channels may be associated with one or more transmission queues that may have different priority designations. Video packets may be reordered (e.g., with respect to transmission order) within the transmission queues, for example in accordance with respective HARQ parameters.

Method and apparatus for video aware hybrid automatic repeat request

Methods, apparatuses and systems for performing hierarchical traffic differentiation and/or employing hierarchical traffic differentiation are provided. These methods, apparatuses and systems may be implemented to, for example, handle congestion and/or to manage user quality of experience (QoE). Performing the hierarchical traffic differentiation may include differentiating or otherwise classifying (collectively 'differentiating') traffic mapped to, or within, a bearer formed in accordance with a QoS class into multiple traffic sub-classes.
